Louque would probably be better off coming in 2028

They are definitely looking at LHP in the portal. I would like to add the pitcher from Michigan.

We have 12 pitchers on the roster if you include Aase.

If we lose 4 pitchers in the draft we will be adding 8 more from the class.

If you add another portal and Garcia you are looking at 22 pitchers.

Haven't heard much. He's a pretty substantial draft risk after a really solid combine

I believe he has a decent draft ranking. He could wait until after the draft or see what offers he gets.

Ok. I had saw him listed as one of the top uncommitted portal players. And he was a LHP

We do have Beaty and Cupit coming in as LHP. Neither are flame throwers but both will be ready to throw innings/matchups right away along with the lefties still on the roster. I like Plog and Lachenmayer, and I believe Williams is due to break out. Jay had a very short leash with the LHP this season. All had a significant number of appearances but none averaged a full inning per appearance, except for Santi. I think we need to let some guys run a bit this coming season.

I’d imagine what will end up being a much improved defense will exponentially help the pitching. It’s hard for guys to develop when they have to be perfect to get outs

Outfielder Angel Laya announced his commitment to LSU on Friday, leaving Eugene for an SEC power as expected. However, the news comes not long after Oregon hitting coach Jack Marder left the Ducks for a job at Texas, which was also recruiting Laya

Yeah after finding this out, I really like Angel Laya.

I’m sure this was previously discussed, but is Laya a DES?

I also have no doubt they a deep dive into all things related to pitching this year (pitch calling, usage, etc). I expect they will tweak some things going into next season.

Who do we think is our CF? I think this is the biggest question mark. Can Laya or Wachs play CF at a high level?

Not Laya, Wachs has potential.

That is the pressing question

. I heard a Tulane beat writer say he didn’t think he couid play CF tho. That he struggled at times in RF. But I’ve watched a lot of his highlights. He can really run. So may be the best option of the 3 with Patrick & Nate Davis also factoring in.

I actually think Laya runs better than Wachs and Watters if that's what the starting OF looks like (and it probably will). None really jump off the page from a speed standpoint, though. I'm not writing Patrick and Davis off, they're both probably better athletes than the other 3 and run better. I just think the other 3 have the inside track given the experience level and production. Watters will never leave the lineup.

I think Watters is locked in at LF. I saw a brief interview of him in Chatham where he specifically said he "wanted to be the best left fielder he could be."

Could be empty words, but stuck out to me.

I heard Laya is a below average runner with an above average arm. I believe he will play in RF.

I have read Wachs has good speed but does need more work in the OF. I would expect Wachs will improve on his defense.

Patrick was a raw talent with a high ceiling coming out of highschool. I wouldn't be surprised to see Patrick make a big jump this year with defense and offense. There is a decent chance Patrick moves ahead of Wachs.

I personally don't think we get Washington and Murphy to campus. Davis has already announced getting to campus and I think we have a good chance with Roberson. Any of those 4 could move ahead of both Patrick and Wachs at CF if they get to campus but doubtful. I think it is unlikely that they will move to a starting role but it is possible.

This is more me being bored anything else. I will certainly look stupid on some of these predictions, but it won't be the first time.

I believe Curial, Brown, Sheerin, Guidry and Garcia will all go pro.

I think we will get another pitcher in the portal and LHP's Brinham and Worley are the two top targets. If we lose on any of the top targets we could be done.

I think we will lose 4 position players from HS. Murphy-, Washington, Santarelli and Adams.

I think we will lose 4 pitchers from HS. Schmidt, Hirshkorn, Nawrocki and Evans.

I think Weinstein will decommit, which sucks because he could make it to campus. I believe his plan is to be done with college after two years as a DES. Milam's return might have pushed him out of our class.

If it goes down like I am predicting ( and it certainly won't) we will be left with 20 position players and 21 pitchers and a 41 player roster.

If we do better expected in the draft and add another portal pitcher there are some guys that can be processed.
