C - Bide
1B - Braun
2B - Kurland
3B - Park
SS - Milam
LF - Watters
CF - Wachs
RF - Laya
DH - Serna
Is that the best lineup in America?
Bench:
IF - Ruckert
IF/COF - Pearson
C/CIF/COF - Yamin
OF - Davis
OF - Patrick
Feels like we're going to get more IF than OF to campus from the class. Holding out hope they can get Nawrocki/Santarelli in. Feel like Washington/Murphy are gone.

quote:he’s already got 1 of the top 3 so that’s already a huge win. Roberson may sign but LSU was already in good shape with Patrick, Watters, Wachs, Davis and now Laya.
I gotta think this means Jay feels less confident in some of the other HS OFs making it

I think he’s just making sure we’re not left grasping for straws after the draft.

Before this signing and the Davis announcement, I thought Ruckert would get some time in the OF as well. Feel like that's now out and he's the 5th IF.

Expect Washington and Murphy to sign. Doyle had very high praise for Roberson, could have been a 2nd rounder had he not been hurt for much of his senior season. Still a draft risk but I'd expect Roberson to be a Tiger.
The focus is now on top end pitching. From everything I've been hearing, the chances at getting 1/3 of Schmidt, Hirsch, and Sides seem to be a sure thing. Decent likelihood at getting 2.

Do not count on Nawrocki or Santarelli. Both are going to be paid handsomely. It would take something unusual to happen for either to come to campus.

Oh 100%. Assuming we get the ones we expect, we're good on the position player side.

Our 2nd team guys will likely be better than the what started for us at a few positions this year. Absolutely no way to predict a natty at this point but you can almost guarantee next years team will at least be fun to watch again.

I mentioned before, Jay will never build an off-season roster with freshman or unproven players (Patrick). That doesn't mean freshman won't win a starting job, but they will have to emerge, or the older guys will have to struggle or get injured.
Look at OF situation before Laya. Watters and Wachs and your third OF will either be Patrick or a freshman. Unless you move to Braun to OF. Now we add Laya and the holes are filled. Maybe Patrick or a freshman will emerge, but time will tell.
You are also looking at 4 OF's before Laya. Watters, Wachs, Patrick and Davis. We have a good shot at Roberson, because of a back injury. We could still get Washington or Murphy but they will be a bonus if we get either of them.

I have been crunching the numbers on pitching as well. We can still add a portal pitcher but that will be end of our portal season. If we add another arm, we do well on the draft and if land Garcia we will have to free up some room with Aase and Wisener. If Garcia goes pro and we don't do well in the draft then Aase and Wisener make the cut.
Belding is also an option player on the position as well. Once again if we do well in the draft, Belding could be moving on.

Boy this lineup is stacked.
1. Milam S
2. Watters L
3. Arrambide R
4. Braun L
5. Serna R
6. Laya L
7. Kurland R
8. Wachs L
9. Park R
Just need Evans and Schmidt to fulfill their potential, and Moore to get back where he was.

what if we add marshall louque?

I don't see us adding Louque.
I think we lose Washington and Murphy and keep Roberson will put us at 6 OF's, that is perfect.
If we lose Santarelli, Adams and Weistein, we will be at 10 IF's.
With Belding we will have 4 catchers.
That puts us at 20 position players.

I didn't realize Laya was 6'3.
