That is who I would want to play for ---- the ghost of Mike Martin, Sr

I guess his uncle was either wrong or we backed off.
I'd have to imagine LSU made contact with just about every infielder of note in the portal and set up contingency plans with guys like him though
Have a deal in place, but it's not actually committable yet until someone like park or kurland turn you down. Or Milam doesn't pull out of the draft

Interesting find when looking at Morris: Dylan Thompson went 10-0 this season for Blinn with a 2.29 era.

I don't think I would have minded him and Trenton Lape getting more of a chance here. Thompson could have carved out a niche as a change of pace guy after throwing one of the big flamethrowers.
I'm big on varying looks, not having a pitching staff that looks like it came off an assembly line. Different heights, arm angles, repertoires, etc.
ETA: Looking at Blinn a little more, I like the Marc Barnard kid they had this year. Was either at A&M or committed to A&M before playing his freshman season at Blinn.

Agree.
Thompson actually was having some success in scrimmages 2024 fall and 2025 spring too. Just threw 86-88 so I guess they didn't give him as much of a shot as some other guys.

Arkansas seems to always do with in the Portal.

I was going to post this, Thompson always seemed to do pretty well in the scrimmages then was literally never given chances in games here. No idea why, maybe like you said they were worried about the lack of velocity, but clearly he did well against our lineups which were really good.
I had brought up us not using Thompson a handful of times in the past. Just weird they gave someone like DJ Primeaux such an incredibly long leash and Thompson just, nada, nothing.
Believe he is headed to BYU next

It really feels like we're trending toward a Nate Davis announcement about pulling out of the draft.

Not too upset about that one. 37 walks in 54 innings and had a rough ERA at Blinn this year. He even got hit around some too (57 hits)

Wasn’t Thompson always in the doghouse?

I agree with posts on here about Thompson. Not sure what the deall was with him, but he was often very effective in scrimmages.

Personally I think Jay would just prefer to work the kinks out of the guys with potential in midweek games. For the benefit of the team, I'd rather see Maverick Rizy try and go 2 innings than Dylan Thompson.
If Rizy (random example of guy with potential) gets going, he is infinitely more beneficial to your staff than a guy like Thompson. It's not necessarily "fair", but I think it's the best way to give your team a chance to win a title.
I think there's certainly a spot for a Dylan Thompson like player on the roster, especially in years where you really need midweek innings eaters.
The two years he was on the roster, we (unfortunately for him) had two horses on the weekend that kind of made that midweek inning eater job obsolete.

Having the run rule in place also limits innings for pitchers, it affects us more since we have so many of those type of games. We've had about of dozen games end short in EACH the last couple years
These are type of games innings eaters would be pitching in the 8th-9th inning often
