Friday night at Tenn versus Sat or Sun at LSU is an ego decision. So Tenn is perfect for him.

I mean I guess if you want a guy with a 4 era with 70ks in 80ip against the big 10 throwing on Friday in that tiny ballpark against the SEC…. On Friday night

Give me the UGA kid & call it a day on the pitching side

Just watched alot of videos of him and he reminds me a lot of Dutton at LSU.
All of his strikeouts are up in the zone which isn’t going to work in that stadium against the SEC.
I think I’d bet a lot of money Tony doesn’t have a weekend starter with Mack and he isn’t below a 4.5 ERA.
Maybe losing the 20 pitchers is putting some pressure on him to bring anyone and everyone in that he can.

Not to mention the 81H in 80.1IP and .266 BA allowed... We genuinely have 5-6 GOOD RHP that are in the mix for a starting role (Evans, Schmidt, Noot, Cowan(?), Sheerin, Guidry). Mack was the least of my worries in the portal.

Looking like we may be close on Garcia.
He’d probably finish out the lefty arms. Add Taylor or Volchko or both and call it a day from the pitching side.

I remember playing hookie on National signing day for college football when they had the all American games and players actually committed and signed… in I guess the 2000s. This is giving me a small bit of the adrenaline that that gave me. Nostalgia I guess

The crappy part about this whole Ace Reese debacle is that we could have had him last cycle

Who is going to pitch on Friday nights for Tennessee? It almost has to be this guy.

I’d rather no fireworks. I really like what we have compared to everyone else.

I don't know much about him but just going offhis numbers I wouldn't think he would be a Friday night guy in the SEC. He wasn't over powering in a avg to below avg conference . The same pitching that made Kling one of the better players in the conference. I may be wrong but I just don't see him being TN #1.

I said the same thing in my comment

Mack is nowhere close to Friday night SEC starter, Tennessee has much better talent than that.
Mack at best will be back end of a rotation unless he makes some kind of huge Dutton bump like this year, even then, Dutton's lack of elite stuff really caught up to him at points this season. Any time he couldnt locate perfectly all game he got shelled despite adding all these pitches, thats the issue with a front end of rotation SEC starter without great heat.
In Dutton's last 4 starts against South Carolina, Ole Miss, Stetson and Coastal Carolina; he gave up 23 ER in just 17.1 IP. Got shelled in each one of those games (27 hits, 6 doubles, 5 HR)

If tweet fails to load, click here. We were on him in the portal last year. Not sure if there will be interest this time around. Probably not if Larson sticks.

Had 23 SO in 58 PA at Texas this year, that's a big ouch. Basically striking out 1 in every 4 PA this past year
