That’s 3 solid portal pickups already for Wes. Coggin and Simpson are recruiting well.

I'm confused as to how Zaborowski still has D1 eligibility. I thought he'd be in that category of players that got two COVID years in JUCO and aren't eligible at D1 anymore but are eligible at D2, D3, and NAIA.
Sidenote, Zaborowski is also a high functioning autistic person. I read a couple articles about it when he was in JUCO. He was supposed to go to Grand Canyon out of high school but went JUCO instead in Arizona. Just an interesting, unique story for baseball.

I don't get the hype around this kid. I know people can improve, but he batted .278 in the WAC this season. That does not translate to the SEC.

He was really good as a freshman. I mentioned him here because he was a guy that we looked at as a late add out of high school so I've followed him.
He was on an early season 2025 draft list from baseball america. He's got tools.
I don't think we were necessarily on him this offseason because we don't need a 2nd baseman unless Milam is moving over to shortstop. We need infielders, sure but they have to be able to play the left side and he's never done that.

Milam invited to the Collegiate team USA training camp to possibly be selected to play for team USA this summer. Pretty impressive to be invited as a freshman.

Yes. Based on the social media tea leaves (this is a pure guess) it seems he may be our best bet for the first commitment.

I think Sheerin is the best pitcher in the portal. Would get him for 2yrs

I can't speak to his quality, but in general, I like the 2 year guys more than the one year guys.
Sometimes a one years rental is necessary. Like to replace Tanks, a one year rental while Kale Fountain comes up to speed would be nice. I like the Frei kid from North Alabama.

I don't know that we need a transfer to play 3B. Neal's bat will play if he can stay healthy, and with Priester and potentially Arrambide coming in, Neal may not be our best option at C. I'd like to see him get a look at 3B.

Lots of assumptions in your post and as we saw this year, assuming giant steps from two guys + relying on a freshman doesn’t seem like the smartest idea.
We definitely need a veteran 3rd baseman with some power or power potential. If Neal wants to compete there, awesome. Zero chance Jay is 1) going to assume Neal will be healthy 2) not bring in a veteran player.
I’m not even sold Brady Neal is a slam dunk to be here. I could see him leaving, possibly. Emphasis on possible. Put Kling in the same category.

Pretty sure Jay will continue to use 3rd to pull the biggest most proven bat available. As high as he is on Neal I think he is absolutely bringing in a proven elite bat and putting him there. Especially after this season.
Jay told Tommy White he didn’t care how many errors he made at 3rd he was never taking him off of it.
So he brought in Berry and White (two first rounders) to stick at a corner infield position, because of their bats. Pretty confident that will be the plan moving forward as well.
Can’t afford to just expect guys will improve. I also agree that you can’t give up guys either, but he is using that position to pull in an elite bat, IMO.

Agreed. I don't think Jay is going to put himself in that position again this year.
