Extremely punchable face but also had some clutch at bats for them. One of them kept them from elimination in the tournament if I remember correctly.

I found Denton much more tolerable before he got to Knoxville. Something in the water there.

Would take Denton for sure. Lot of SEC experience. Will be older than everyone. Pretty good player couid hit out of that 6-7 hole

Looking like an absolute prick is one of the top traits that Tony V looks for in players

Absolutely. .877 career OPS (.969 in '23), double-digit HRs every year as a starter, good walk %, made the All-Defensive team in 2021 so I assume he's at least solid at 3B. The type of player who deepens the lineup.

Solid at 3B, and can play 1B or corner OF. I really wanted Denton but we got that Tommy White guy instead.

Woffords freshman catcher hit the portal. Daniel Jackson. Don’t see any connection to LSU at this point or if we’d even be interested with Neal and Priester. He had a solid year though.

If I'm not mistaken, he hit the HR against Clemson in the regional last year in the 9th or extra innings to save their season.

How in the hell can he still has eligibility left? He started at Alabama and I think he was on the 97 team we beat in Omaha.

I’m more curious to know how he didn’t get drafted. He has talent and out of the hundreds of picks, he wasn’t good enough? Something else has to be going on.

I understand they brought in Amick, but he didn't play at all this season. Very strange situation. I read comments from his coach that he had things he needed to do.

quote:

Denton originally announced plans to return to Tennessee for his super senior season after going unselected in the 2023 MLB Draft. But Denton ended up taking the fall off due to personal reasons and while he returned to Knoxville and had conversations with Tony Vitello in the winter, he never returned to the roster.

quote:

Denton did not play this season despite announcing on Aug. 5 that he was returning for a second season with the Vols after going undrafted in the 2023 MLB Draft. He was not with the team during the fall while he was handling some things off the field, Tennessee coach Tony Vitello said at the time.

"I don't really have any expectations 'cause I don't have complete answers," Vitello said. "There's nothing crazy going on. And I don't think you all will be provided an aha moment, like this is a straight conclusion. It's not that easy. There's a lot of factors to it. I just visited with him recently, we hang out. He's in a good place. We're in a good place. Just trying to figure out what he's gonna do with his future."

"He came here last year with a plan of getting to Omaha, which he did and was a major factor. And the other part of that plan was getting his opportunity in pro baseball. And for whatever reason it just didn't work out. And when your plans get derailed a little bit, you sit back and you assess how do you want to move forward, which again, he's doing in the classroom and as a person, and certainly, like I said, we hang out and talk, so we'll figure out what's best, but that'll come when the time is right. Like I said, it's not as easy as just going this way or going that way. There's other factors like classes and things involved."

Likely thought he was worth more than MLB teams thought he was. Nothing really screams MLB potential when you look at his numbers or watch him play. If he was asking a certain price and teams wouldn't meet it they would just move on from him.

That said, I think he is a good college ball player and I'm sure LSU will give him a look.

Amen to that. I get no extra calories burned from scrolling down every time; only increased odds for carpal tunnel syndrome.

Ryan Black committed to Georgia. Probably a Josh Simpson connection there.
