still hate it that we didn't get to see the switch hitting Mitchell in game play. Think he will do well somewhere as he develops
Any news on where he is headed.
Dude is going to end up being a player imo.
He is smashing the ball in summer league.

I dunno where Mitchell ends up and I have no clue if he will be good or not, but just the thought of Neal getting a shot in RF over him and Ruddell, really grinds my gears. For some reason CJJ bent over backwards to keep his shitty bat in the lineup and gave him a chance to look like a fish out of water over two other guys. All for that smug face prick to take his ball and go home when shite wasn’t handed to him on a silver platter.
Hopefully he goes 0-12 with 12 Ks (looking) next year against the good guys.

Or giving him reps out there over Larson and Brown too. I'm glad Jay put his foot down with him when he came in with demands again this offseason.

Yea. Glad CJJ finally figured it out and it didn’t cost us two more transfers. I try not to rag on guys bc they are kids, but the whole Neal thing is just irritating considering the opportunity he was given. Good riddance young man. Not sure if it’s possible but it feels like this will make CJJ an even better coach going forward. No more teachers pet bullshite unless you are a Skenes, Crews, Tanks, Jones type of dude.

Marcos Paz had TJ on July 1st.
He's now unlikely to pitch before the next draft. He's one of the top 2025 arms in the HS class. I can't imagine this hurts our chances of getting him to campus.

Pretty close to the same timeline as Kade Anderson.

It feels weird to not be sweating any draft signings this time of year.
In year’s past, we would be crunching the numbers to see how much a certain MLB team had left in their draft pool and whether it would be enough to sign an LSU commit/player.
Not having any underclassmen or commits drafted in Rounds 11-20 is pretty wild.

I'd say this is actually preferred by LSU rather than him coming in with a sore or overused arm and needing to be shut down early on like so many other guys...
Jake Latz
Nick Storz
Jaden Hill (spring and not fall)

Obviously none of us want a kid getting hurt but one less year of high school wear and tear and likely getting him to campus with Jay, who has shown a really adept ability at working with guys coming off TJ, is not the worst thing for his career.

Primeaux's summer stat line after yesterday's performance
4.66 ERA, 9G, 1GS, 19.1 IP, 15H, 11R, 10ER, 10BB 19K, 1.293 WHIP
Not bad.

His summer line is not great. I do think he will end up being a good player with opportunity, however.
.230/.341/.351/.692, 4HR, 25BB, 36K, 13 SB in 182 plate appearances.

I think the amazing thing to take away here is he has 182 plate appearances in summer ball, thats insane.

It's why I like the Northwoods league for guys needing the reps. They play 60 games. Guys can get all the PAs or innings they need there.
ETA: There is a dude in the Northwoods League that has played 52 games and has 261 PAs. 21 HRs. He's a 23 year old from CSUN and is probably looking for a UDFA or Indy League opportunity, but still that's a lot of summer baseball.

It looks like the Marshalls set their stats page to private so I won’t have any more updates. I can still see individual box scores but I doubt I have the time to piece together the totals for Pearson and Ryan.

Maybe next year we will send incoming freshmen to the Prospect League and Cal Ripken League like we used to. Those are proper leagues with proper stat pages.

LHP Max Arlich who recently decommitted from A&M is going to Arizona State. He is the #32 LHP and #299 overall in the 2024 class. There was thought that we may had taken a look after the coaching change but then we got Williams.

who sends their pitchers there? Do they just carry an insane amount in the roster or are they guys throwing a whole second season.
Posted on 7/22/24 at 3:11 pm to SammyTiger
It's a mix. They get some older lower level guys that just want to keep throwing. They get some JUCO guys. And the D1 guys they get are usually redshirts or guys that didn't get a lot of usage during the season. So they're able to get their work in there.
