Doubtful.

I’m pretty surprised Coleman didn’t get taken late

I don’t want Coleman back

a little concerned with the logjam at some of the positions and how you keep those players happy, otherwise you gonna be in a similar position with portal next season
I love a good logjam. It means you have to produce to make the lineup and stay there. Competition is good. The entire roster will never be happy anyway. It's always been that way. And, you don't have to try keeping them all happy. The players that produce play. And you replace the ones that leave. They weren't producing anyway.
I do think Jay built a really nice nucleus in the last few years that will keep him from having to use the portal so much. He seems to be working on a nice balance of recruits, transfers, home grown talent, and national talent.

This coming team will have an incredible blend of highly touted incoming freshman, successful (in slightly unproven competition) transfer sophomores, and some experienced upper classman like Bear, Braswell, and Pearson.
Plus, throw in some arms like Noot/Shores who are coming back from injury and you seem to have a lot of pieces to make a deep run. Jay got them here which is half the battle, now he needs to put it all together in a cohesive manner.

Correct. Players will always be leaving. There should also be spots opening up every season. This is a year to year thing.
I am not at all concerned about the idea of some unhappy players due to playing time. You have to fill the roster out regardless. Fill it out with the best players. Winning championships is the goal.
I agree.

Beck needs to be in the lineup somewhere.

He will be. He could have went anywhere in the country…he didn’t come here to be a platoon / bench bat

I'm glad to hear the positive comments on Beck. Don't hold me to these stats, but I heard he hit 13 of his 18 HR's at his home ballpark and their park is small. I was wondering if his game wouldn't translate to a big school but you seem high on him. The more competition, the better.

39% barrel rate & 104 90thEV plays anywhere. Those are stupid good numbers. He may not hit 18 homers again but he is going to be hammering baseballs all over the yard
Edit - He hit 11 homers at home and 7 away. That isn’t a huge difference. 99% of people hit more homers at home

Well i doubt hernandez and yamin came here to sit the bench. But odds are at least 2 of those 3 guys are at best platooning. Unless there is a change of heart or someone unexpected is leaving.

335ft down the lines
407ft to CF
that is slightly bigger than alex box which is 330 to the lines, 405 to CF

agree but I think a strategy is emerging. It was discussed here previously in the thread when we got the Kutcherak news - 1. identify two or three freshman who as Jay says "will be stars here" 2. play them as freshman 3. keep them come hell or high water.
The others, even the promising ones who didn't get enough reps in their freshman year for Jay to surmise their future contribution, are expendable. Hoping that so-and-so will take a bounding step forward as a sophomore, is a thing of the past.

Pleasantly surprised to get Ryan through the draft. It was sounding like he’d go high enough to sign. Of course I think s good bit of that came from a questionable source but still it seemed to generate some concern.
Really like this class.

Like the last two seasons, there will be high turnover going into 2026. Would especially love if guys like Arrambide and Michael Ryan trend toward starters going into 26. They need some continuity at C and SS, big time.

Anyone think Jones ends up hitting cleanup with some sort of mix of (Braswell/Milam/Dickinson) at 1-2-3 in the order?
Posted on 7/17/24 at 7:00 am to Adam4848
I’ve read that Dickinson would likely bat lead off but I was thinking man Braswell really seemed to flourish there
Posted on 7/17/24 at 7:03 am to Adam4848
Dickinson
Milam
Beck
Jones
???
idk. There is going to be some competition to see who actually plays.
Maybe Stanfield will come on and be a leadoff candidate
I dont see Braswell hitting at the top though.

I like something closer to:
8. Stanfield
9. Braswell
1. Milam
2. Dickinson
3. Jones
for the combination of more AB’s and RISP, over the course of the season. Lots of RH hitters there, but the idea stands.

I know Braswell improved drastically with the bat last season but I feel like if Braswell is in the top 4 of the batting order then someone is underperforming.
I feel Milam/Dickinson in the 1/2 but not sure which in which hole. Honestly not sure it really matters. Jones in the 3 and then you have to have someone behind him people are scared of. Not sure exactly who that will be yet. Maybe Hernandez/Beck/Yamin/Frey.
I like Braswell or Stanfield in the 9 hole with the other in the 7 hole. Whoever ends up catching in the 8 hole. Larson in the 5.
