Just such odd timing, youd think he would negotiate through the first two rounds
so much of the early portion of the draft is pre-determined based on conversations between players and teams. He likely had a number and knew it wouldn't be met based on the the select few teams that would even be able to pay him.

Right, but youd think he’s hold till the last minute to see if those teams get desperate enough to meet the number or provide their best offer. Feels like the 3-3.5 mil thats been rumored may be a little low

I would have thought so too. This kid just loves LSU. I guess the college experience was too much of a draw. Also (I'm completely speculating) maybe his family is well off and he can experience college, develop and still go in the first round in 3 years (not sure if he's DES). Get the best of both worlds.

Think he is here for 3 years

Keith Law hates college baseball in general
Sounds like it and he comes off like a crybaby.
It’s ok when pro teams manipulate their draft by underpaying kids so they can pay an 18th round pick 1.5 mill though ?
Frick off Keith

Law was crying about Skenes's pitch totals last year. He's a bitch.

State fans must want to kill Lemonis right now.
Reality is he signs with pro ball tonight if he’s still a State commit.

Frick that loser lol. College coaches have a nearly impossible job with recruiting against MLB and how they can manipulate the draft and their money. How many times have college coaches been left at the last min???
Can’t tell Keith how good this feels. Frick you Keith

You have to love this current era of journalism where they're so busy schilling for billion dollar empires and authority instead of the people's best interest. In what world are we supposed to have a sob story over some multi-billion dollar franchises sending scouts all spring? That's part of their fricking job, regardless of whether or not the kids opts out.

im also guessing he has a really, really nice NIL deal that made it easier to make this decision without hanging out just in case something changes.

I hang out with my family for like 40 minutes and I miss this happening.

Honestly if you are turning down $4mm offers, what’s the point in just getting a $4.5mm offer? Like with his awesome NIL etc and knowing teams aren’t gonna get to $6mm or even $5mm it just makes sense to commit to one and pull your name

We had KG a lot of money stored. Wondering if we relocated and that’s what caused Schmidt to pull. Seems like he got his original number but still pulled. Ready to hear him explain this

Truth is, Jay needs to implement the Skip philosophy. Sign the best at Catholic every year and build the team out from there.

What a damn start...let's keep it rolling through Tuesday!

not a lot of HS getting 4 mill in the late 1st last year. most weren’t getting slot value
One of them did though but he was a lefty.

I don’t know an exact number but he was expected to get offers in that realm. Probably around $3mm
