He’d have to fall to the 12th round and still not be drafted by specific teams for me to feel good about him.

Don't think I'd feel good about him until his opening to sign a contract is gone.

i think if he falls out the 2nd it’s a sign teams won’t agree to his number because everyone seems to think he’s a first round talent.

According to Hunt's latest, only Hayden is expected to sign with MLB from the transfer portal class.

There is nothing stacked about it.
Definitely not stacked last year but it will be going into next year if these latest predictions are correct.
You have Pearson, Stanfield, Brown, Curiel, Larson, and possibly Beck to fill 3 spots before you bring in the liberty kid.
(this is assuming jones comes back to take away 1b)

The truth is you can only say the outfield is stacked by projecting those guys produce at a higher level than they have to this point. Curiel is a freshman. Beck hasn't played in the SEC. If Pearson. Stanfield, Larson, and Brown produce at their career statistical levels, no one would call that stacked. You're relying on 3 guys out of 6-8 to do what they've never done before to have a truly stacked outfield.

It’s stacked with lots of talented players. Talent still has to produce but the idea is that if you have 6-8 super talented players, probably 3-4 will produce.
Also Larson hit .337 in SEC play btw so if he does that I would say that’s pretty good.

I guess we are getting bogged down with different definitions of stacked. By no means do I think we have any Crews or Montgomery types coming in and 100% locking up a spot (although I do think very highly of Stansfield).
I’m saying that room is stacked with players who expect to start.
Stansfield is most definitely expecting to start.
I doubt as A Pearson will go down quietly.
I don’t think Brown or Larson are expecting to just be role guys (nor do I think that would be good for program culture)
Not sure Beck goes if Jones comes back.
I don’t think Curiel starts but I would like for him to get a little playing time.
The stacked discussion started with trying to figure out where to put the liberty kid. If he’s a Montgomery type then by all means bring him in but do we think he’s by far better than anyone else in that group? It’s possible he is.
I just think OF is an interesting place to be bringing in another portal guy right now.

Within the next couple years, rosters will be shrunk to between 30 and 35 players, all on full scholarship.
That means high school recruiting classes will continue to shrink.
Jucos about to explode.

I'm thinking Braswell moves to 3B if he comes back. Dickinson is coming in to play SS, unless he shows that he can't. Braswell doesn't really have anything to gain or lose by coming back, no matter where he plays next season. Dickinson has a lot to gain by showing he can handle SS.
I also think Kucherak could be waiting to see what Braswell does before moving on. If Braswell moves on, Kucherak could see a path at 3B (or SS if Dickinson kicks it around).

Not bad for a freshman not named Crews or Bregman.

Larson had an .827 OPS for the season. Yeah, his contact ability was his best attribute. Yeah, he had a hot streak during the middle of SEC play where he was almost carrying us. But his power needs to develop. His walk rate needs to improve. He's a slow runner. He's a below average defender. He absolutely needs to OPS at .950+. I think he can for sure. I'm just saying let's not pretend that repeating an .827 would be good, especially given his other limitations.

Of course things need to improve. I mean if that generalization isn’t the most obvious point anyone has ever made. Nobody here is also going to assume every single person repeats their exact statistical performance especially coming off your true freshman season. Last year wasn’t their ceiling. We saw jumps from Jones and Braswell. Not crazy to project jumps for a guy like Stanfield, Brown, Larson, or assume Beck won’t translate.
(Yes yes I know Neal, Kling blah) but not everyone is the same.

He may not have plus speed but Larson isn't slow.
Posted on 7/13/24 at 4:36 pm to Lester Earl
I’m not sure why anyone thinks he is a slow runner. He isn’t Jake Brown fast, but wasn’t he one of the leaders in SB for us last year? I know that’s not saying much but he isn’t Braswell, Tanks, or Travinski type of slow.
