Agreed. At some point you’ve got to have a nucleus of guys who develop, have chemistry, and actually have some meaningful investment in the program
I don’t know enough about that Mississippi State team a few years ago, but even in the portal age, Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee all had that in their championship years.
Part of the chemistry comes from guys going through rough patches together. When everyone from a rough year leaves, you don’t capture that growth.

If I were a going into sophomore year SS and the guy that started in front of me was leaving while our coach was looking for a SS in the portal absolutely I would leave.
It’s nothing personal but this is this kids shot at his dream. I would no doubt go somewhere where I could get on the field faster

Geez what do some of these kids want
you cant redshirt kids that come a long way to come play at LSU and think they'll want to stick around.
Im not saying LSU is doing good or bad but they certainly may need to pivot a bit with what they are doing

Kucherak didn’t redshirt. He just wasn’t ready to get on the field. Jay even tried him out in a midweek when Braswell had a few errors in a row.

i know he didn't redshirt. the designation doesnt really matter though because the baseball rules are dumb. He had 12 at bats. He might as well had redshirted

No need to go in the portal if you’re not on scholarship. You can leave anytime. Assuming he wasn’t because if you redshirt with a scholarship you’re on the spring roster. It’s being talked about that he’s leaving now or after the fall. Nothing official that Ive heard.
Some will be go into fall ball, see where they stand and then transfer.
Dylan can play the infield somewhere, not sure if LSU will be patient enough to have him stick around to get a shot at it .

Could him entering the portal just be a strategy play depending on what happens in the draft and what someone like Braswell decides to do? He could always withdraw if things go his way or transfer if they don’t.
Or is there a time limit the portal guys have to choose a new school?

Right. At the same time you have Braswell and Milam that are both ahead of him but also need to continue to get the at bats to develop. Guess I’m just saying it isn’t always easy to get the guys more PT just to try to keep them around and also have a team reach its potential. So with the portal now the younger kids that think they can come in and get a spot will now realize they aren’t quite there and leave.

Need more La recruits that bleed lsu and don’t mind waiting for the back end of roster

We also have that Juco
coming in don’t we?

Louisiana kids must be a priority. I know there’s not that many to pick from, but I would rather take a shot at a few more lower rated La kids than these out of state guys that leave at the drop of a hat.

Reaves, yes. Started the year at 2B, made 3 errors in 3 days, and was moved to the OF for the rest of the season.

We just had a Louisiana kid leave in the middle of the season. Being tied to LA isn’t a lock they won’t leave.

I could be wrong here but I don’t see Milam as an elite SS. Is he an unbelievable player?
Yes! Is he going to play in the MLB? Yes!
He’s just not long and rangy enough to play SS. Could he do it? Probably so. But why ask a kid as talented as him with the future he has to play a position that he will not play in the MLB? It would be like asking Altuve to play SS for the Astros over Pena.

I think that could be part of why he waited so long. See how LSU's roster shakes out in the next few weeks. By the time the draft happens you'll have a pretty good idea of who's staying and who is coming back.

If an LA kid isn't good enough to play at LSU in the first place, why would we want them to hang around at the end of the bench? For vibes?

You don’t think we’re doing the same thing in the cape?
To the Aggies lineup being elite, their team average dropped 10-15 points after our series. One of the guys had great series. Outside of Jace and Grahovac it will be interesting to see if they can do it back to back years.

We survived it. Stay with us DRock, another draft is coming. You are one of my favorite posters.

Just a thought but could Guidry be in play now to play SS finally or is that not even an option anymore
