They're talking about Aiden Moffett, who was a freshman last year

This thread has been a place where Tiger Baseball fans can go to get updates on our current players and find out how they’re doing in their summer leagues. I think most of us probably like that we can get that info here as well as updates on recruiting. This has been the case for some time now.

It has been said multiple times that all summer updates are put into this thread to stay away from the rant.
Has been like that for years now.

As it should be. My ability to can't is even with the Rant baseball posters.

It’s good to know that this site is ADA compliant.

I just ran an Axe report and it got 28 issues.

You just happened to make this joke at the exact time I was working on making intranet sites ADA compliant.

This can only mean that Holman news is about to drop as the stars are aligning.

Replying to this comment because it was the first one I saw that mentioned Braden Montgomery.
What if Braden wants to play SS? He was a MIF in HS along with OF/P. I know in the Cape he has played RF and pitched once, but who is to say that they wouldn't give him a shot at SS?
Obviously, I have zero inside intel on him just like everyone else, just a random thought that popped in my mind.

Thanks, Hall Monitor

Not to switch gears here but this reminded me of a South Park episode of Cartman being asked to be his schools Hall Monitor. He sees it as a chance for power and turns into Dog The Bounty Hunter, it was fricking hilarious. Just bringing a little humor as we wait on Holman to pop!

Solid update on moffet, this part is odd

That tells me the 4 seam is the newer pitch. Be curious to see if he gets a few ticks up in velo on the pitch come springtime as he continues to develop and work on the pitch.

I am excited to see how he will adjust once he works with Yeskie. Definitely happy with his progression this summer. Some solid potential here.

If I'm not mistaken, Moffet is a good student, smart kid. That usually speeds up progression when the talent is there. The final piece would be his willingness to work, so we'll see how bad he wants it.

I’ve noticed the guys we had warming the bullpen bench were big arse guys. Our depth is at the point to where even our back end of the bullpen guys are big physical guys

Played mini golf next to Moffett, Primeaux, and Brozini in Omaha. All three seemed very well mannered and it was always “yes sir” “no sir” when they were spoken to. Seemed like good kids.

Broadcaster specifically mentioned Moffett has both a 4 seam and a 2 seam fast ball, so maybe he is throwing two separate fast balls intentionally. His 2 seam tends to be the faster of the two.
I wonder if the broadcaster got that backwards. a lot of pitchers throw both fastballs, but the 4-seam tends to be the faster, flatter pitch because of the backspin (and sometimes appears to be rising). if Moffett's 2-seam is indeed faster, he must use a non-conventional grip. in a traditional sense, most P throw the 4-seam for speed and the 2-seam for movement.

He’s a brilliant student! Think he scored a 31 or 32 on his ACT. He’s got academic scholarships

quote:No, the speed comment was my interpretation of watching his pitches. He seems to sit 93-95 and then with 2 strikes he'll ramp it up to 97-98. From what I've seen, most of those 97/98s have been 2 seamers.
