I'd prefer Dugas in the infield over Pearson. I really prefer neither of them in there.
Truth. Whoever coaches middle infield has his hands full

Highly doubtful. Kling put on 30 pounds last year. Not saying he's sloppy at all or completely incapable of playing IF, but he's built more for a corner OF spot now.

Why we didn’t go after Amani Larry still confuses me… he was here for sure for one year whereas Pineda and Young were not

I just don't think Jay envisioned losing both Pineda and Young. Had he only gotten a commitment from one of them, I think other guys would have been in the picture more. I still think he has a contingency plan that gets him 1 or 2 more infielders.

And Larry isn't coming here seeing both Pineda and Young committed here, and we aren't having this conversation if Baltimore doesn't back up the Brinks truck for Young today

Ya, rn MIF is a rotation of Thompson, Guidry and Merrifield.
Merrifield doesn’t play SS
And Guidry is a freshmen. You cannot bet on him being a sure thing to handle such a responsibility

I don't think Skenes is catching at all moving forward. Listening to his interviews it doesn't sound like it
The one interview I heard with him he basically said this exact quote. It’s about preserving his body now

I’m really pulling for milazzo to figure something out at the plate. I want him catching full time next year. We really missed his commanding presence behind the mound

If true... TY Sweet Baby Jesus! And the assclown Sampson is gone.

But White transferred here, and Dugas announced his return before Skenes ever committed.
Yes, I was only speaking to the reality of the situation at this point with Skenes. Even if they were given assurances, they have to play positions now regardless since Skenes is the primary DH. This team is going to be at its best with those three bats in the lineup. There really is no place else to put White but 3B and no other real candidates to play there anyway. Dugas could stay in LF if Guidry makes a case to start in MIF. I suspect there will be a fair amount of interchangeable pieces amongst DH/3B/2B/LF. A lot depends on how Guidry, Kling and Stevenson develop.

Maybe look at guys from UCLA that Hurd may be familiar with? Duke guys that Jordan may be familiar with? Really just thinking about some angles that Jay could take. Would help if he could find some guys that he or others are familiar with up close.

Those guys would have to already be in the portal, right?

Leah Van is so on her game getting ALL the inside scoops on baseball!
Why is it so fricking difficult to get someone anyone to cover LSU baseball?

They might be. I don't have access to the portal. Also could be grad transfers, though, right?
ETA: I do remember that some other UCLA guys went into the portal with Hurd. Just never really followed them much. Mooney was the only guy I really paid attention to for Duke, but don't think he is in the portal.

The baseball deadlines are rather loose coming off covid & the weird roster shapes. I don’t think it would be hard to get a waiver of some sort if the situation is right. Also anyone that has graduated can transfer in, no questions asked.
