I’m going to hate to see this page go away, but I’m also ready for the next Baseball Recruiting thread!!

The talent, especially in state, gets richer and richer every year from here on out. They already have studs popping up as far out as class of 2026. It'll be fun but also suck to sweat around draft time, too. Then you have the portal activity to monitor, changes in deadlines, roster sizes, etc. Glad to have someone as organized, calculated, and engaged as Jay in charge.

Need to win some nattys between now and then to get some of the magic back around the program. These kids only know 1 for the hood guys in their life time.

All of this. Baseball is great because anything can happen on any day, but it’s hard not to look at what CJJ is doing here and feel like championship(s) are on the way. Omaha is about to become Baton Rouge north, once again. Just like it should be.

The thought of Skenes pitching to Milazzo and getting to DH for him is marvelous.
Posted on 7/30/22 at 8:51 am to SoloTiger
That’s not how it works.
The DH is a hitter for the pitcher position only. You can’t DH for other positions.
If Skenes is pitching to Milazzo as catcher and Skenes is DH, he bats as the DH and Milazzo bats as catcher.
Skenes can remain as DH if he leaves the game (after pitching) as long as he doesn’t assume a position in the field. If he assumes a position the team loses the DH and the following pitcher(s) have to bat.

I always saw Leto as a 1st baseman. I wish him well.

According to the MLB.com tracker, the Brewers have signed all of their Top 10 round picks.
Most recently, their 5th round pick signed for $150k (slot $334k).
They also signed their 11th round pick for $125k which doesn’t affect the pool.
By my quick math, they have $155k left in their bonus pool and $354k which is 5% overage of the bonus pool.
So officially, the most the Brewers can offer Noot is $634k, assuming they don’t spend over $125k for any other Round 12-20 signings.

If that's true, I just can't see it happening. The kid was a projected first rounder and dropped, likely due to his number, so his number had to be well over $600K

Pineda officially signs. For only 147K

woof, not the way he imagined things going in his head.

He just wants to play pro ball. Good luck to the kid. I don’t think he had any intention in playing another year in college especially when Carter Young committed.
Posted on 7/30/22 at 3:46 pm to BayouPride
What do you think he thought he would get
Posted on 7/30/22 at 4:06 pm to BayouPride
Lol a moon pie and an RC cola. Good luck Jack

A lot of people on here are overestimating the leverage some of these 4th year juniors actually have. That’s good money for Pineda all things considering.

Utility infielder for depth, bats left. Fine by me. Who's projected to be our plus 5? Merrield, Beloso, and who else?
