All I want to know is which of the 2019 and 2020 guys will make it to campus.

Daniel Espino has been the premier attraction for scouts at both East Coast Pro and the Area Code games. At Area Codes his average fastball was 95.6, higher than any single pitch from any other pitchers. He's going to be in the PG All American game, which is coming up soon in San Diego.
He's pretty much rocketing up every draft board and is expected to be one of the top 2 or 3 prep arms in next years draft. At this point, I don't think we should expect to see him on campus.

Not to make something out of nothing, but there are pictures of Smith helping getting kids moved in. I could be completely off here, but that's probably another bit of good news involving his back.

Yes Josh's back has healed nicely, he should be back 100%, Gilbert had shoulder surgery last week.

Lsu picked up a commitment from josh pearson, west Monroe. Jacob's brother I believe. Will post more details later, probably tomorrow.
ETA: Added Josh to the thread in the new post for the 2022 class as he is the first commit there. For more info and discussion please see this thread: LINK

I don't think this had been reported anywhere, but in no surprising news, Nick Webre is on the roster of LSUE for the fall. With the way they recruit from the high level high school baseball powers in the state, it was the most logical destination for him. I wish him luck. I thought he was going to be a good one for us.

Taylor Petersen has transferred to Division 2 Metropolitan St in Denver for his senior season.

LSU picked up a commitment from RHP Zachary Murray. Murray is a RHP from Buford, Georgia.

Three LSU commits made the Baseball America All-Showcase team.
P Daniel Espino, who is touted as having the best stuff right now in the class. He is unanimously considered a 1st rounder. I would not expect him to make it to campus.
IF Rece Hinds. One of the best high school power bats in the class. Can stick at 3rd base going forward. Compare favorably to Cardinals 2018 1st rounder Nolan Gorman, who tore up the minor leagues in his debut season. Looking very unlikely to get to campus.
OF Maurice Hampton. Showed the type of high level athleticism that scouts look for in two-sport athletes. Still raw, which in this case is a plus considering baseball has never been his full focus. His commitment to LSU football continues to make it more likely than not that he makes it to campus, despite the positive reviews on the showcase circuit.

To get a real difference maker to sign they generally have a finger or wrist injury so there out of the circuit for a while. That's how Bregs wound up at LSU.

He has been a Tiger fan his whole life and would not pass on the Tigers unless he was a very high draft pick. I think he still comes to Baton Rouge.

Which is why it’s unlikely. He could be a top 5 pick at this point.

Former LSU commit Johnny Ray, who went to Illinois st, has transferred to John A Logan JC for his redshirt freshman year. Today he was touching 95 mph in a fall juco tournament. I wonder if we look at him again as a potential recruit.

It looks like former LSU commit Andrew Lee has landed at Eastern Florida State, a JUCO. He joins former Miss St commit and 1st rounder Carter Stewart.

Hope LSU gets P Johnny Ray back.

After doing a little more research, it doesn't look like we're recruiting him from what I can tell. TCU seems to be a likely destination right now.

Project,
Do you have any predictions of the pitchers and position players most likely to make the biggest impressions in fall ball?
Thanks

New 2020 Commit... Javen Coleman, LHP, Houston, TX
Posted on 9/24/18 at 12:28 pm to TigerFan55555
I'll add him later today. I figured we would get a commit or 2 with a home football game and fall practice starting.
ETA: I'm still trying to find any verification beyond him being listed by Perfect Game. When I find something else, I'll add him.
