Longhorn Network helped UT land Torshiro Davis?

Got this from a friend that is well-connected at UT...this is about the recruitment of Torshiro Davis:
I was told that Shiro wanted to be a sports broadcasting major, and the LHN (as fledgling as it is) had to be impressive to him.
The last point is interesting. Yes, Texas put him up to being secretive about his change in commitment, but it doesn't excuse him from not being honest and upfront with the LSU staff.
Thoughts?

1) Bo Davis was the lead recruiter. He had a very good relationship
with the high school coach and he had been recruiting Tshiro for
Alabama so his relationship with the kid went back two years.
2) Texas thought they had him after his visit. The depth chart at Texas
which is thin at rush DE and the depth chart at LSU which is deep was
hammered to the kid
3) He was really impressed by the ESPN studio (LHN) and the fact that
students get to work/intern there.
4) Texas thought they lost him after he went on his official LSU
visit. A couple of days later, he decided Texas and the coaches told
him not to tell anyone. The reasoning is that there would be a ton of
pressure brought on the kid and his family to switch to LSU. The kid
wasn't a jerk on purpose, Texas put him up to it.

Him keeping it quite was in Texas' best interest, not his own. He still had to make the choice to lie to everyone about it. It really doesn't change much for me. Texas' depth chart is no different than LSU's, that much is just coach speak.

Nope, got good solid info. yesterday that Davis was pay back for firing d mac. d mac and davis's coach were friends. He intentionally mis lead the coaching staff as pay back for firing his friend.

Yes....yes he was. Quit making excuses for him. Don't give an interview saying you're 90% LSU when that isn't case and you sure as hell don't lie to the coaching staff that you've been committed to for close to a year. The kid, his coach, and parents are all chicken shite.

No doubt Texas told this kid to keep it quiet. That's exactly what I would do if I were him. However, I guarantee they had the cooperation of Holmes pressuring him.

The part about telling him to keep everything a secret from our staff is pure chickenshit by the UT staff and shame on Toshiro for doing that. All that accomplished was screwing us over. There are LA kids every year who LSU wants but they commit elsewhere, they see some sort of terrible backlash? Toshiro was in Shreveport too, noit like he was in NOLA or Baton Rouge area. Was it so terrible for Collins or Devall to commit so early to Bama?
I certainly hope Texas gets what's coming their way telling kids to do this crap.

It shows he can't make a decision for himself. Having it fall out the way it did only shows what type of person he is.
If he would have told the LSU coaches at that point, but told them to keep quiet seeing how other LA athletes get treated when they choose OOS schools, then I would be fine with that.

then to cover your pussy move you tell the media you made the switch because of unhappy players at LSU. The kid is a bitch, plain and simple.

Off the top of the head:
1. ESPN is no better than the Recruiting Pimps most coaches lambast.
2. Should the Tx//ESPN relationship be reviewed by NCAA - Plays an obvious role in recruiting.
3. The recruit still was deceitful and he needs to live with that.
4. In the end he is not a tiger and I'd much rather have someone 100% with us.
5. Texas will still be in a mid major bowl next year and the Tigers will be looking at Crystal!

What the hell else was Miles to do about the Mccarthy situation? LSU and Mccarthy needed to cut ties.

yeah what a dick move firing a coach who got us in trouble with the NCAA. I can see why that deserved pay back.
Alleva and the compliance wanted Mccarthy out before the season started, Miles did the guy a favor by allowing him to coach that season.
