Absolutely, considering there are no 6-1 250lb RBs in the NFL it's a no brained

Uhhh, I'm not sure what you are talking about. There have been a host of running backs that were 250lbs that played in the NFL. I've listed just a few that come to memory right now, but there are more.

Earl Campbell was (244lbs close enough)
Christian Okoye (260lbs)
Jerome Bettis, (over 250lbs for sure, it was comical he was listed around 238lbs)
TJ Duckett(254Lbs)
Brandon Jacobs (264lbs)
Jamal Lewis(240-250lbs)

Maybe LSU GrandDad listened to his commitment interview where he said "if they want me to play LB I will play LB."

Get a clue shite talkin junior...

So you named 5, none that are playing right now and 2 that were 6'4". My point stands. There are no 6-1 250 RBs in the nfl.

My point is that not only have their been quite a few backs who have played in the NFL that have been 250+lbs, some of those backs have also been great. You cant make the argument with facts that there have never been backs of 250lbs+ that played in the NFL. Thse guys not played, but were damn good players in the NFL for many years.

Earl Campbell(Hall of Fame)
Jerome Bettis( Another hall of famer)
Christian Okoye(very productive career)
Jamal Lewis( one of the few who have rushed for 2000 yds in a season)

Actually, you will find very few linebackers at the NFL level that are as short as 6'0" or 6'1" anymore. The days of short squatty linebackers have gone by for the most part.

Devin can play both ways like Myles Jack did for UCLA ... 5-7 touches on offense

during certain situations, let him play offense to create mismatches ... ie wheel route, power dive running behind FB , etc...

You came up with about 1 per decade. Now think of how many RBs have played the position over that time. The odds are heavily stacked against him.

As far as LBs go, I could prob find 25 just on NFL rosters today alone in the size range.

That's also because it is so rare to see a guy 6' that is 250 and can run like a WR.

This is kind of getting lost in the debate here. The kid said he would play wherever they needed him to. Would he say that just to be saying that? Programs all over the country wanted him to come play RB. He could've gone anywhere and played RB. If being a RB exclusively meant that much to him, seems like he would've went somewhere where he could start from day one with little competition.

It's going to come down to how bad he wants to play early. Come in and get a carry here and there at RB or possibly start at Backer from day one. This is a good "problem" to have though. A player so good he can come in as a Freshman and have an immediate impact on either side of the ball.

He's way more than just a scat back

Williams is not explosive

He's explosive enough. Busted plenty of 10+ yards runs. Plus he more than enough ability. Could be starting at the majority of schools.

Players are coming back stronger from those injuries than in the past.

Ducre is currently at fullback

Currently. He was recruited as a redshirt RB, who could take FB snaps. Him and White are very comparable in skill sets.

Personally I would be fine with White at either position, but it's hard to overlook his potential at linebacker.

let's just scour the all pro lists from 2010 to now.

Patrick Willis 6'1" 242
Thomas Davis 6'1" 230
Navarro Bowman 6'0" 242
Khalil Mack 6'2" 251
Von Miller 6'2" 246
Jerod Mayo 6'1" 242
Ray Lewis 6'1" 240
Brian Cushing 6'2" 243
London Fletcher 5'10" 245
Chad Greenway 6'2" 242
Vontaze Burfict 6'1" 248
Bobby Wagner 6'0" 243
Lawrence Timmons 6'0" 238

I think you can get the point. Not even taking into account the players that fill out the middle of most NFL rosters.

I doubt Devin will come in at this years' playing wt of 258#. He was a little "pudgie" this season. OTOH, he played at 235# his jr year. A good conditioning program like LSU's will make him stronger, faster and trimmer. I think he'll come in around 240-245". He's both a physical specimen and freak and will benefit greatly from Tommy Moffitt.

No, it's going to come down to where he can best help the team. That will be determined not by any of us, but by the coaching staff. Does anyone here really think that CLM used his ONLY allotted RB recruit this year to fill a LB position? That's what people are saying when then insist LSU will play him at LB instead of RB.

In 4 years, I missed only 4 of Devin's games. Up until his sr year I thought he was best suited to play LB at college. But in his last year of high school ball, he made it clear he really wanted to play RB, NOT LB. He was frequently subbed at LB, but very rarely at RB. In addition, his heart and effort just didn't seem into as much playing LB as playing RB. In addition, of the major teams who made recruiting trips to NWHS, Texas A&M (personal visit by Chavis) is the only one I'm aware of who recruited him to play LB; that didn't work out well for them.

I have no doubt Devin wants to help the team as best he can, but if he really wants to play RB and the coaching staff made him our only RB recruit this year, who are we at TD to change him to LB?

Micheal Turner in Atlanta and Micheal Bush in Oakland just a few years back were both roughly 6 foot, 250. There were three running backs at the combine last year almost that exact size.

I would bet good money that Eddie Lacy's fat arse is 250 too. It's not as rare as you are making it out to be.
