know why you were down voted for speaking the truth. He's not an off the ball LB and trying to fit him there would be a mistake. He's an edge rusher. No reason he cant add the bulk to be a situational pass rusher at least. Seems the staff has come around on the true LB stance but they managed to scheme our best rusher away from rushing the passer this season so who knows.

They will learn when he gets to lsu. He is smaller than perkins.

All these idiots who say "play perkins at edge every down"

Like 90% of the people on here. I actually like cobbins pass rushing ability and his makeup as a player.

Just believe he will have to learn to play linebacker or that nickel spot they have perkins at.

Because what he said made no sense?

Every clip was him rushing the passer. Why would you even comment about off the hall lol. Guy is a Jack LB.

Lester, you are so fricking dumb.

Off the ball when it's snapped. Holy shite man, I thought you knew at least the basics, since you are always "grinding film"

Without knowing the exact formula for 247 composite, can't tell how much 247 itself (very low 4* rating) dumping on Cobbins hurt his overall score but 247 composite has him 187th best player (which in my system is a medium 4*). And of course I rate more prospects 5*. My cutoff is 50 5*, not 32, because I don't tie 5* to dart throwing who will be a 1st round draft pick 4 years from now. Yeah, obviously I laugh tabout the recruiting services star distributions. But of course, he will never be the former #2 national player according to the services Korey Foreman who just 3 years later is barely rated a 4*. They never ever miss on players. Daylon Mack says hi! So do Arch Manning #1..Uiagaleliei former #2...Antonio Alfano former #1, etc, etc, etc

no he isn't
He's a little taller and will weigh just as much if not more by next season

Perkins only weighed 212 during the season
Cobbins weighs 205 right now

Perkins is longer though and has bigger arms/hands

On3 has 21 five stars, so there is no way Cobbins is a 5*

Go watch Colin Simmons, armondo Blount or David stones tape & compare it to Cobbins. These are physically mature freak edge guys that will play as Fr. Cobbins may be ready to contribute in Y2 or 3. He is a project with upside

Don’t crawfish now chalky. This was literally your next sentence.

Or did you mean they will try & play him off the snap?

He’s got 2 key characteristics I love seeing in a defender…great instincts and great desire.

Irrelevant...I'm not sure how many times I need to say this but I do NOT use the recruiting services ratings system because I think it is fatally flawed in their methodology. I say there should be 50 5* and Cobbins is one of them. Also, I didn't say Simmons wasn't a 5* so not sure why you brought him up. Cobbins is not a project either BTW.

So there should be 50 five stars regardless of the talent pool every year?

Nope, and you are right that the talent pool varies from year to year. But I would be lying if I said I have seen every HS players' videos. And to be fair to my 50 arbitrary number, the ONLY reason that 247 is fixed at 32 is they use that 1st round projection nonsense (32 NFL teams = 32 5*). And I believe 50 is a reasonable number...Until LesterEarl mentioned it, I had no idea that On3 only used 21. God, that is RIDICULOUSLY low!

You’re in every Kolaj Cobbin’s thread hyping this kid. What’s your relationship to him?

"Every Cobbin's thread" = 2 total right? And I didn't start either one of the threads I might add. I have no relationship to him at all, never met him, etc. I simply like his play and also respond to the FEW posters here who dump on the guy..."too small"..."a tweener"..."a project", etc.

He has to gain 25lbs before he sees any meaningful time on the field lol

That is silly to say that Cobbins has to gain 25 pounds. Perkins came in at 210 and NOW according to LSUsports.net weighs 220. Cobbins weighs between 200 and 205 currently. Thus, no way does he have to weight 225 to 230 as a TR FR. We should just agree to disagree because our opinions vary dramatically on Cobbins obviously...just wasting time goinbg back and forth. We will see who is right next year.

Cobbins won’t likely see the field next year unless it’s on special teams.
