That certainly hasn't been the case. Miles has had no problem signing big time QBs.

You were talking about getting good QB recruits based on a few things and said they would almost always choose (Essentially) a school like Arkansas over LSU now.

Miles has signed...

5-star Ryan Perrilloux (#1 Dual-Threat)
4-star Jarrett Lee (#7 Pro-Style)
4-star Jordan Jefferson (#8 Pro-Style)
5-star Russell Shepard (#1 Dual-Threat)
3-star Chris Garrett (#18 Pro-Style)
4-star Zach Lee (#9 Pro-Style)

Try and keep up, that's not what i was talking about. I was responding to the person saying QB RECRUITS would rather go to a school like Arkansas over LSU. Simply not the case, as the evidence shows.

Every QB Miles has signed (other than RP) is still in school . In fact they are all either gonna be JR's or RS FR. Shepard will be a sophmore.

So your logic is flawed.

Suatown,I think Petrino is a good Qb tutor and offensive coach but he should not get credit for Mallett.He isn't developing Mallett at ll.Mallett was going to get drafted high no matter where or who he played for.His arm is among the elite of the elite.Never been a question of him getting drafted pretty high.Locker is the #1 guy anyway not Mallett.Mallett is supremely talented(i've thought so since seeing him in the Army game)but is a head case.Reminds me a lot of Ryan Leaf.Hopefully not because i wish all kids success but he has those kinds of traits.Petrino is not the guy to correct those things.He has the same kind of issues.

Thats because Chris Todd ran it last year, and thats the type of QB he was (he transfered from TTU) you haven't seen what it would like with a dual-threat QB yet.

Every year in college Malzahn has ran his offense with a pro-style QB.

I do not understand where people ge this idea his system calls for a dual-threat QB.

2006 = Casey Dick/Mitch Mustain
2007 = Paul Smith
2008 = David Johnson
2009 = Chris Todd (chose him over Kodi Burns, Tyrik Rollinson)

Because Burns can't hit the broad side of a barn and Rollison was a true freshman that we wanted to keep the redshirt on.

And as sad as it is, Todd was our best option over Caudle and Burns this past year.

Most of the optimism of having a good dual threat guy back there is just the added dimension it adds in an offense that already derives a good bit of its success from a lot of motion and misdirection.

Well it's going to be run by a dual-threat QB next year

Name's Cam Newton. Everybody on this board will know it well after October 23rd.

I watched him play in high school. He's a better passer than runner, but obviously he will run a little more than Todd ever did. However, he won't really be a true "dual-threat" in Malzahn's system. The QBs throw the RBs/WRs take care of most of the running.

that's like the complete opposite of what Florida fans will tell you. I've seen his high school and JUCO film, and he looks a little rough around the edges but I think he'll fit in nicely with the effort he has been showing to improve himself on and off the field.

I guess Gus should just scrap his plans to install the option package that he's so giddy about, since Newton won't be a "dual-threat" QB.

Oh, and don't be surprised if Frazier commits to AU before the summer gets here.

Isnt Matt Flynn ahead of Petrino's star pupil Brohm on the depth chart in Green Bay?

Petrino does more with less.

It's about time he figured out how to recruit more instead of less

I'm being half-serious. He's a good coach but I don't think he can win at the highest level with the talent he's been able to bring in at Arkansas

And btw Flynn = BCS NC QB and NFL player... drafted way lower than Brohm but apparently so much better they cut Brohm instead

Ok sorry, i forgot he wasnt the Head Coach at OSU...and never had a QB play for him.

Also, none of those QB project to be anything at the next level.

Me keep up? Why dont you read what I posted way before you posted.

That is all I am getting at. I am not denying the fact that teams with winning records (ie LSU, Miami,Florida) dont get 4-5* QBs all the time, because they do. But just because you get a 4-5* Qb, that doesnt make you a great QB school, it makes you a great QB recruiting school.
Obviously LSU gets 4-5* QBs all the time. I dont know of any being up for any awards lately though? do you? Since Miles has been there?
