hopefully they understand being developed and getting potentially tens of millions in the NFL or millions after football working in alumni networks is more lucrative long term than switching schools three times fir diminishing return.

BK I love you my dude but you sound like you're 63 now and unable to read the room

You make $10M a year at LSU, are you saying if the fit was right to win a Natty you would work here for $4M a year? That's basically what you're saying bro. Put your money where your mouth is

The Kelly makes xyz argument is not accurate. If a guy took LSU as his first job at a discount rate he would fail, and be coaching Jr high in a matter of five years.

The years and years of prep gave BK the opportunity. The kids looking for the big payday first is not going to pan out for many of them.

Dude, really?

Don't get me wrong, a loss is a loss and there's no moral victories. But our loss to USCw was far from an "arse whooping". That game was there for us to win, and for many different reasons we didn't take the opportunities given to come out on top.

But that's completely different from being dominated by an obviously more talented team - which they weren't. USCw may have come out with the W, but it wasn't a convincing one in anyone's books. In fact, a lot of people said they were lucky to have won that game at all.

Sorry for the rant, but revisionist history always gets me riled up.

We can do both. It's not a zero-sum game.

If it’s the singular driving force, then that’s a bad sign imo.

I wouldn’t make a career change based only on money.

Exactly. It's just like business, chase good management (in this case coaching staff) not just the money, with good mgmt the money will come. (Maximizing position, draft status, to get drafted and paid in the league)

Coaches are professionals with a career, not 17 year old kids. Not sure why people can’t see there’s a difference

Then he'll want to come home as a player that has done nothing and is going to wonder why LSU will only give him a $30 gift card for gas to sign with them.

Since NIL has started, what program has benefited the most?

What program has the most wins because of NIL, not anything else?

Oregon and Texas?

That’s two programs out of how many across the country? At some point, these people and these groups that are paying these kids outrageous amounts of money are going to realize that 99% of these investments aren’t returning them what they want.

USC is the prominent program in California and they have like 3 kids in the California top 30.

Their team is a house of cards.

Worked out great for Bear Alexander. A kid that actually had college experience.

This kid has barely played HS football. I’m sure he’s an exception to the rule and special. 100%

Some players are willing to go to a program that might not be the best fit for them but gets them the most money

That is really a sad commentary and differs a lot from what you see in the professional ranks

Lincoln Riley having zero success recruiting so cal and not a fan favorite in the high school coaching circles. Long gone are the Pete Carrol days.

Exactly.

Been screaming from the rooftops about this. We're all chasing money and trying to get more of it. You're worth what someone is willing to pay you.

People turn down more pay ALL the friggin time. As a matter of fact many Americans turned down higher pay for a better home/work life after the covid lockdowns. Made many people realize what's important.

Kade Phillips turned down being trained by the best DB coach in his CFB era for 200k more. 800k to 1 mill was the difference. On one hand you're training at a school who has had one DB drafted higher than the 5th round {3rd round} in the past 10 years. On the other hand in the past 5 drafts LSU has had a 3 star DB in the 4th round. a 3 star DB in the 3rd round, TWO 2nd round DBs, and a top 5 overall draft pick DB.

Coaches get paid based on performance and building an entire career in coaching at a professional level. Players haven’t done shite to deserve fricking anything other than a 100k and a free education. Cap this shite an be done with it. If not let the dummies go pro at 18 and let the NFL deal with them. NFL got plenty money to start a developmental league then we don’t have to deal with these divas and their drama swapping schools like socks.

In my experience, sometimes the fit outweighs the pay in the long run.

While true, asking a 17 year old kid to see the “big picture” is a lesson in futility. They see money and they go straight in that direction, long term ramifications be damned.

Eh. The issue is that if you have talent and the physical attributes, the NFL doesn’t care where you play. If you are good, they know it and they will draft you.

Look at it from the players perspective knowing this. They do their 3 or 4 years tops making bank at a school that may not be a perfect fit for them, then on to be drafted by the NFL at a team that might ALSO not be a great fit for you. I mean, think about the kids from the south getting drafted by a team like Geeen Bay or he’ll even vice versa. These players ain’t used to that weather.
