He'll be a star football player at UGA. I doubt anyone will be making fun of him.

When I was 16-17 years old, I could toe to toe with him as far a spouting dumb crap. A couple of years from now, he will be a much different kid, probably more mature, but no guarantees; maybe even worst, if that's possible. For us onlookers, it is the uncertainty that gets to us; like the uncertainty that led up to the Auburn game.

Someone should point out how much the University of Georgia helped Terreall Bierra after he finished playing ball for them.

“Back then”, recruiting was more regional and players were more loyal to their state or school that their family attended. Colleges didn’t have the money or resources to recruit nationally. Scholarships were unlimited. Some schools had had more than 150 players on scholarship. Nowadays HS kids transfer to football factories and their college choices are “business decisions”. You never heard a FOOTBALL PLAYER use the expression “showing me love” until the last few years.

Look at what's going on with D'Andre Swift in Georgia.

Some of this highly recruited guys are going to not get as many touches as they should. It's just math. It's only going to get worse with Emery. One more mouth to feed.

Georgia will pretend it's not a problem. But, for the kids like Swift who don't get featured when they should, it is.

The bama formula is and always has been to buy the best talent available. Their payroll fir players is over 20 million annually now and everyone associated with college football knows it. They are not even trying to be coy anymore.

The Georgia Kirby recent recruiting success, is “being all in” frick the rules and pay them all.

That’s what “ showing me love” really means. NCAA isn’t even pretending to care anymore.
Of course, they are showered with love right into the day they are processed out the door.

Nope. All these attention whores coincide with social media, recruiting websites and ESPN coverage of college football recruiting in this millennium.

Right, do your history and you'll find that Eric Dickerson was basically the lowest maintenance recruit and in just about every category of recruiting was no attention whore... Yea thats the ticket

What's going on with Swift that should concern Emery?

He's got double digit carries once in 3 games. He had FOUR carries on Saturday.

Ridiculously underutilized.

He's got more carries than any other UGA RB.

He has a groin injury that he's been dealing with since the spring. That's been the reason for the low carries. I believe he missed the spring game for the same injury.

I really wish when they commit, they'd just shut it down entirely. You want to go to UGA, and you say you're locked in with them, but anything could happen? That's not committed and locked in, chief.

Nothing, assuming that Swift has a season ending injury before the 2019 season starts.

With Emery, you got to get to the dad. Yes, the dad makes all the visits with his son and his prolific on social media about the trips. But, what I mean is Emery Sr. is of the grass is greener mindset. Goes back to when he was recruited and ended up in Knoxville. You have to work that aspect. Telling that the Dad ended back up in Louisiana after Knoxville didn't work out. But clearly he is feeding that mindset to the son. That's the hurdle.

Uh dude, I don't need to "do my history". I was a student athlete at LSU when Dickerson was at SMU and remember the whole SMU-Texas A&M Trans-Am saga. I read about it in a now defunct weekly magazine called The Sporting News. First of all, Dickerson was a can't-miss player and the best RB in the nation and ranked as the best overall player in the nation ahead of players like John Elway and Dan Marino. I had a college teammate that played with Marino in high school that told me that Terry Donahue told Marino he changed his offense if he committed to UCLA. Colleges violating every NCAA bylaw trying to lure recruits was absolutely much worse back then. Back then you rarely had a "commitment announcement", kids rarely flipped or announced decison dates. This bullshite with recruits tweeting their top 5, playing the hat game, posting photos of cash and talking about "the love" that schools show, parachuting out of airplanes or my favorite - Jimmy Clausen showing up in a limousine at the College Football Hall of Fame to announce his committment to Notre Dame - is unquestionably a product of today's technology and media.

No offense, but you just did exactly what I said Georgia would do...pretend it isn't an issue (dishonestly)

Here is a link to a Georgia site with a quote from Smart saying the opposite of what you just said:

Kirby Smart Explains Lack Of Carries For UGA RB D'Andre Swift

People are already asking questions. They aren't getting a workload that's reasonable. Had Zamir White not been injured it would be even worse. And, Cook is just sitting there not playing as well.

Listen, the kid is going to do what he wants to do. And, if he wants Georgia, more power to him.

But, we don't have to pretend that the depth chart is a non issue and that he's going to be guaranteed snaps and carries. That's not the case.

On another note, what is behind the long list of major RB injuries at Georgia? Is it the turf? Do they just not cut it as short as most places? Is it related to usage?

It seems like every top RB out of Georgia has torn his ACL since Garrison Hearst.

None of the top backs at Georgia are going to get a ton of carries if Georgia keeps blowing teams out. It would have been basically unsportsmanlike to run any of our top 3 in the 4th quarter in any of our games so far.
