Here's a statement by Cain on a visit to Texas:
He also said this:

Despite Emery still playing in state and Cain going to Texas and then IMG I just get the impression we stand a better chance with Cain.
quote:
“I want to be part of a 1-2 punch like I am in high school,” he said. “It would be hard to commit to a school that already had a big rotation at running back. I’ll be looking at things like the depth chart and the type of scheme a school runs before deciding. I also need to be comfortable with the coaches because they become like your dad during the hard times, and we all have hard times.”
He also said this:
quote:
“I went back and forth a lot growing up between Texas and Louisiana,” he said. “I consider myself a Louisiana kid because of where I was born and the fact that most of my family is still out there. Texas is home, though, and I love the state.”

“I feel like I should be that No. 1 like Leonard Fournette [at LSU] and the amount of carries he got each game. I don’t want to be Derrius Guice when Fournette was playing. I plan on starting and that’s the goal I have set up. I plan on starting when I go to college and doing big things. I don’t plan on being No. 2 or being a part of a duo. However, I’ll play my part, but my goal is eventually to be No. 1 for sure.”
News flash!! you are not LF7, and even LF7 didn't star from day one at LSU. The first game he started was the Florida game, which was game 7 that year! hell I can understand wanting to be the man, but his comments don't sound like those of a competitor.
2014 info from LSUsports.net
You can click on each game and scroll to the bottom, to see who started each game.

I feel like we should go hard after Cain and Davis duo and then cleanup with Mike Hollins from Lab....

Darwin Barlow may also be in the mix

“Kid needs to understand you can’t be a number one back and not be part of a duo if you want limited touches. His expectations need a little humbling” I agree he’s my fav back in the class right now but definitely needs to tone down with LF7 talk. LF7 wasn’t even the starter his freshman year. So how does he figure he will just step right in??? Play your role and what’s meant to be will be. Or you could always go to MOO STATE.

Just putting this out there. As a true freshman, Fournette got 187 carries in 13 games. (14 per game) As Fournette’s backup in 2016, Guice got 183 carries in 12 games (15 per game).

Don't need to read his quotes. He's already butt hurt that we will hold a spot for Tyrion Davis. Has gone on the record as saying he wants to be the only Rb recruited/offered. Secondly, I didn't post all these quotes that you have pasted. Didn't say half of them. I posted 3 words. Did YOU not read my post? Don't you hear good? Sorry to offend you and yo boy.

Thanks for straightening that out, they have a habit of flying off the handle.
Come earn your place John!

as well as it should after not getting any running backs 2017 class.

Fournette never would have said this type of stupid shite...because Fournette would not have worried about ANY competition

Gonna have to earn it wherever you end up on this level and the next. Best to just embrace the competition.

This kid sounds way too needy

quote:Apparently that's the attitude of most of the posters in this thread.
Don't need to read his quotes.
Lots of folks don't want to read what he actually said, they'd rather put words in his mouth that he never said.
He never said he wanted all the carries.
He never said that he expected to start from day one.
He did say:
quote:Doesn't sound entitled to me.
I’ll play my PART, but my goal is EVENTUALLY to be No. 1 for sure.
quote:Yeah, I did ready them. But apparently you "don't on't need to read his quotes." Irony?!?! Hypocrisy?!?!
I posted 3 words. Did YOU not read my post? Don't you hear good?
quote:You didn't offend me. You're a moron. I don't get offended by morons. Never have; never will.
Sorry to offend you and yo boy.
He's not my boy. I don't know him any better than I know Davis or Cain, which is to say, not at all. I'm just tired of reading morons twist LSU recruits words on an LSU recruiting website. Seems kind of moronic and certainly counterproductive.

He’s probably just restating the bs coaches are telling him except replace the “want” with “can”

If he expects LSU (or anybody for that matter) to just hand him the keys to the number 1 runner without proving it on the field, he's in for a rude awakening. I think Emery is an outstanding running back with a bright college future. But if he decides to go elsewhere, I won't lose any sleep. There's several more in this class who are also outstanding backs. And one is already committed to the Bayou Bengals.

I really don't see where he said that or even implied that.
When you read all the quotes together he is saying he wants to earn the #1 spot and show that he is the Leanord Fournette, the guy who won the starting spot over another very talented RB, Derius Guice. Also he doesn't want to beat up his body to much in college, so will share the load, but wants to show that he is the #1 back. I don't see anything he says that can be interpreted as he wants to be GIVEN the starting spot.
Has he really flat out said that he wants to be the ONLY RB signed in this class by whatever school he goes to? I have seen it said on here that he said that. We do need more than one RB in this class who ever we sign.

He literally said that he'd play his part if it came to that. He wants to go to a school where he has a shot to compete for the starting spot immediately. Fournette was a guy who saw the depth chart at LSU and figured he could play a lot immediately, and he did. Hell you know Miles told him he'd get a lot of touches as a freshman to lure him here anyway.
I understand him though. He doesn't want to go to a school that already has that definite starter. By that I mean, everybody and they mama know this guy is the starter, and everybody else is just playing second fiddle.
A lot of talented backs gather at one place and either fall behind for one reason or another, or don't really start playing until their 3rd year. Look at Holyfield at UGA. He was there a year before Swift, yet Swift came in as a freshman and got 99 touches (rushing receiving and passing), with Michel and Chubb collecting nearly 400 together. Holyfield only had 55 and four were kick returns.
I'm not going to say I don't want him here just because he doesn't want to wait his turn. I want that MFer here any legal way possible. And telling him he'll get plenty of touches year one, even if it doesn't happen, should be the first thing they should do, and continue to do.

Kid said in another interview that he wants to be the only one recruited. I still have some eligibility left. I'm 6' 0" 220. I can crack a 40 in under 5. I bench 330. I've had a full thickness tear of my right supraspinatus but I still throw a decent ball. Id love for lsu to recruit me at qb. It would be a dream. But if they do, I wanna be the only one offered.
Posted on 4/1/18 at 11:33 pm to boxcar willie
I didn't hear him say it, I only heard it here as well. That's why I said if he expects. From what he said I did not gather it true he wants to be the only RB in this class, you sir are correct.
