Dec announcement date. LSU will know in the early signing period if getting Emery and/or Cain.
How is Auburn RBU after LF7 and DG5 at LSU? No disrespect to their program, but i think UGa and LSU have developed better RBs.

“They have all been showing love,” Emery said in reference to the schools in his top eight. “Tennessee and Florida, they have definitely shown a lot of love, but Mississippi State, they have definitely been showing the most love.”

There are your numbers 6, 7, and 8.

Kid needs to understand you can’t be a number one back and not be part of a duo if you want limited touches. His expectations need a little humbling.

So he wants to be the number one back and get all the carries from day 1 but also wants to preserve his body for the nfl and the future...hmm

More I hear about this kid the more I think he’s not coming here. The #1 back but wanting to preserve his body is pretty head scratching as well.

Ummm wtf. yeah this is a serious flag. I’m not even sure where to begin with a quote like this. Kid has serious talent but I’m out if I’m LSU. That sounds like a locker room cancer. Derrius Guice is all class and has proven himself and is about to start his nfl career as fresh as a back can be coming from a run oriented school like LSU. To use him as an example in this way is very indicative of some real maturity issues. He wants it given to him. Apparently he doesn’t think he has to earn his starting spot. No thanks.

I think he is telegraphing that he will not commit with Cain on board if he were to commit.

He think he is Fournette to Cains Guice. Yea that is pretty shitty.

Do we take 3 backs in this class? Who do we want between Davis, Cain and Emery? I like Cain and Davis. Thoughts

Thing is every school he mentioned will recruit elite backs every year! No such thing as guaranteed spot in college football.

We'll take 2 backs in this class. He's getting some bad advice from someone about being a lead back and preserving his body for the league. It doesn't work that way at any school in the SEC and he's not LF7. He'll split carries no matter where he goes. I hope he comes here, but if he's looking for 25 carries/game, he should go to a lower tier school that will feature him.

Emery was my favorite of the 3, but Cain seems to be more open to playing with Davis and Kardell is pushing hard for these two to play together.

Obviously the staff has a better feel for where these 3 stand, but I don't risk losing Cain and/or Davis to try to reel in Emery. If Davis and Cain are willing to play together I go all in on Cain and keep showing a commitment to Davis who is already a verbal. The last couple months I'm just real uneasy about Emery and think we need to shift attention elsewhere.

I think it ends up being Davis and some other back not on the radar right now.

Do not hold off Cain and Davis while waiting for Emery's decision. He's either in or out but should not take a scholly away from other premiere backs.

“My plan going into college is starting,” Emery explained. “I don’t want to be a No. 2. I want to be No. 1. I also have to think about the long-term and making it to the league. I don’t want my body beat up, so that’s something I need to look at.

“I feel like I should be that No. 1 like Leonard Fournette [at LSU] and the amount of carries he got each game. I don’t want to be Derrius Guice when Fournette was playing. I plan on starting and that’s the goal I have set up. I plan on starting when I go to college and doing big things. I don’t plan on being No. 2 or being a part of a duo. However, I’ll play my part, but my goal is eventually to be No. 1 for sure.”
Sam Spiegelman - SECCountry

Nothing wrong with anything in that quote. His goal/plan is to be the No. 1 back. That's what his goal/plan should be. Of course, he doesn't want to be Guice when Fournette was playing. Nobody wants to be second fiddle, and LSU shouldn't want a player who has a goal/plan of being second fiddle. He doesn't make demands or ultimatums. He merely articulates his goals/plans:
quote:

I plan on starting and that’s the goal I have set up. I plan on starting when I go to college and doing big things.

Nevertheless, he specifically states that he is willing to play his PART, and that he EVENTUALLY would like to be No. 1.
quote:

I don’t plan on being No. 2 or being a part of a duo. However, I’ll play my part, but my goal is eventually to be No. 1 for sure.”

quote:

So he wants to be the number one back and get all the carries from day 1 but also wants to preserve his body for the nfl and the future...hmm
No he never said that. First, he said he would like to be No. 1 "eventually," NOT from day 1. Did you even read the quote? Second, he specifically counterbalances his goal/plan of being No. 1 with the goal/plan of preserving his body:
quote:

I also have to think about the long-term and making it to the league. I don’t want my body beat up, so that’s something I need to look at.
Being No. 1 does not mean that he wants to "get all the carries." Those are your words, not his words. He clearly does not want all of the carries because he doesn't want his body beat up.

LSU isn’t getting Cain, Davis, and Emery.

Just gotta hope the staff bets on the right horse. Surtain situation doesn’t inspire much confidence.

I guess you can't understand he's contradicting himself and just spewing out bs.
