Does the staff use the empty spot as a recruiting tool to lure other elite backs to the program?

just gotta wait for it to settle so there can be some finality to it. obviously, if Hill is gone for good I think it would have some influence over whether we take 3 RBs this class. There was always the possibility, which I never bought, that Hill could have left LSU after this year anyway. But I think with he and Blue sharing the workload he'd be around next year too.

I dont think that has any weight here. Im sure they were telling all these kids that Hill is going to the league next year anyway so its not like it would be Hill they were sitting behind......

LF and his 2 heismans is what they will be sitting behind

Not elite, but I want him on our team, if possible.

And to answer the OP, nah. I don't think Hill's suspension will have any effect on recruiting.

there is no reason to believe that Jeremy Hill was coming back anyway. the staff was, and especially now, are looking to reload at the position. frankly, the mistake was made last recruiting yr. when we weren't proactive. so many people said that we didn't need to get a back and we didn't want to upset the LF cart. it was bullshite then and, as we can now see, it is bullshite now. even more frankly, unless there are extenuating circumstances in favor of JH we should cut all ties. only time will tell.

get better.

We kicked him out of school and freed up a scholarship?

I would say no. You can only sign 25 players regardless and Hill is eligable to enter the 2014 draft, so he could be gone after this season anyway.

It's not that simple with back-counting and EE.

What i mean is, losing a player for 2013 does not change the # of players you can sign in a class. Of course there are ways to massage the #'s with back counting, but Hill leaving doesn't open an extra spot. In order to sign 25 for 2014, LSU will need some attrition, but i think Hill was considered likely to go pro after 2013 so that was possibly one of the spots they were figuring they would have.

I think the OP was meaning that there would be 1 less RB on the roster

Not that there would be another scholly to offer.

Could be wrong though. My first post is still the correct answer if anyone was wondering

i was actually talking about the open spot in the backfield not scholarship wise....but the consensus here is that he and Blue are entering the draft after this season anyway. Therefore, there will be two open spots to fill for the 2014 season...Maybe even three if Hilliard decides to pull a Ford move and enter the draft himself after this season.

Jrevonte I'm not too sure that being 'indefinitely suspended' = kicked off the team forever

Are there any circumstances that would allow Hill to return to the team? I have only heard about what shows on the video and sounds pretty damning to me. If what is being said is on the video, what would be circumstances that would not violate probation for one and prevent new charges on top of that? Not a lawyer so I don't know, but it seems pretty remote at this point just looking at it from a distance.
