No, he's really not. What was Tolliver's average YPC in high school? He's a bigger, faster version of Reed. When was the last time a sub 6' receiver did anything at LSU?
He may be slightly faster, but not by much. Everything else, Reed is better. He cuts better, he's better with the ball in his hands. And in the Combine video of him on Rivals from varies camps, he makes some awesome leaping catches. Tolliver is one inch taller, so what?
Why are we bragging about our offense anyway? Even though Lafell and Toliver are good, we could certainly use a playmaker to play btw them. We have a 6'3" Lafell in the slot bc he's our quickest WR. Lafell would be better off outside than in the slot. Lafell runs a 4.4, but never gets to show it outside bc we don't have a good slot WR on the roster.

Now THAT is a valid point. All this other nonsense bashing Reed is just that IMO. But if we can get Landry next year, Seastrunk this year (which would allow Shep to move to slot WR eventually) along with Fobbs, we'll be in great shape.
As much as I think that Reed is the best player in the state this year, I think that Landry is probably better than him. Someone mentioned Josh Reed earlier for LSU, and Landry reminds me a ton of Josh Reed. He can do it all well, and would be a route running machine in the slot like Josh Reed was.

ColtsTigers here is what I don't understand about the reed bashers... They say he is undersized, well Landry is smaller or as small as Reed. Plus I believe both have the frame to add some muscle mass. Reed however is not wanting to redshirt to do so.

I want Reed to come to LSU and think he's a much better player than Chris tolliver.
I also think it's funny that Auburn fans are bragging about probably getting him when the only reason he would choose Auburn over LSU is because he's been adament the entire time about starting right away. Bottom line is he knows Auburn is so shitty that he could get on the field much faster there than he would at LSU. Congradulations on this masterful recruiting achievement of having shitty wide receivers that no one has heard of, WAR EAGLE.

Kids have different reasons for choosing a team. SOme, its exposure and the chance to win a national championship. Others, its the chance to play right away. Reed will be a contributor wherever he goes, and honestly will get that chance earlier at Auburn. Unfortunately there is a trade-off and will get less exposure should he go that route.
He is a very good pickup for whoever gets him.

Reed is a talented player and due to the level of competition because of Tuberville's poor recruiting classes, he will get the chance of seeing the field much earlier than he would at LSU (If he does chose Auburn on the 13th).
I think we're a little foolish to think that Auburn isn't going to be a contender ever again. They are just a few full recruiting classes from being able to compete again.

I really don't understand the Reed bashing going on in this thread. While not a prototypical WR, most college football programs (including LSU) would be glad to have him. Landry may turn out to be better, but Reed is still the top senior in Louisiana and a DAMN good prospect.
And WTF does Ben Obomanu have to do with Trovon Reed? Obomanu IIRC was a prototypical 5* WR out of high school and played a major role in Auburn's undefeated season.

I agree with you. Seems some fans have different views of a player once he is in the rear view mirror. He will be a good player wherever he goes. IMO, he will be an impact player much sooner at Auburn than LSU.

This. The guy could start tomorrow at Auburn. LSU has a lot of athletes in its offense and Malzahn gets players because his offense is innovative.

No, it's not.

I can't see him having a press conference at 1:45 unless he is not riding the team bus to a road playoff game.

To everyone saying we don't need Reed because he isn't 6 ft, keep in mind that Jarvis Landry is 5'11.
I do agree that they are different caliber players, but you can't have the height argument both ways.

Reed to Auburn (if it happens) would be a loss for LSU period. Any elite program can stand to lose a couple of players here and there. the psychological impact, on 2011 class, is greater than the on the field impact (esp. with johnson committed to Tenn.)
RS, LS, & Reed would make for a very dynamic, explosive group. all said, reed is not a big deal if he doesn't convince LS to join him.

No one is bashing the kid. Imagine if Randle went to another school last year. You would have seen a McKnight type meltdown. possibly worse. You don't see that with Reed here. That's pretty telling, IMO.
The kid is good, don't get me wrong but he's not spectacular. Not the kid to sttep on the field and be a program changer. he'll end up just like your WR's that you have now. OK, at best. I honesly don't even know who Auburn WR's are....
He's Kenny Bell v.2. At least with Reed, I think he'll stay at Auburn for 4 years. With Bell, he'll stay at Alabama for 2 years after being passed on the depth chart and end up back at Northwestern St. with Peveto.
I've been all this since the start of this class. If he goes, he goes. IMO, even Fobbs is better than Reed.

How long are we gonna be reading "We got the #1 player in LA" from the auburn guys? Ive read it a handful of times yesterday and this morning. I venture over to the Auburns rivals page, and guess what line is in the opening article about Reed commtitting...you got it, "#1 player in LA". They want so bad to be able to say "5 star" in that line but Reed isint good enough, so they settle for #1 in LA. Pathetic. Auburn is a second tier SEC school and will be as long as Miles is at LSU and Saban at bama.
Its gonna take alot more than Reed for Auburn to compete with Bama, 36-0 last season with another beatdown on the horizon, and a 31-10 beatdown from LSU that could have easily been 38-3.

Reed isn't close to the best player in the state this year. He isn't even the best WR. He is good, just not the best.
