Think about all the rumors regarding visits, flips, commitments, decommitments, etc, that we've all heard only to end up disappointed.
There was nothing but unsubstantiated background noise regarding this visit with no real evidence that it was ever going to happen. It was perfectly rational not to immediately buy into it.
I'm impressed he's here and hope it leads to something. But not buying into this rumor didn't mean someone was wrong, it just meant they were being perfectly reasonable - especially with how we've all been burned in the past on similar matters.
