Trent doesn't even know who we are going to sign this year. How should a random message boarder be expected to know?
That's a good point, but it's not particularly encouraging. It's not particularly damaging to my argument, either.

By your methodology, if you can call it that, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee are recruiting more aggressively than Kentucky.
And that's not a surprise, either. Kentucky does more selecting than recruiting, kinda like LSU in football and baseball. When Kentucky comes calling, they're going to get a lot more guys for the asking than other programs will.
Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and LSU are not in that same boat. For us, the only way to get to Kentucky's level is to outwork them on the recruiting trail for years on end. Anthony Grant, Darren Horn and Cuonzo Martin understand that and they're hustling to get players. Trent isn't, which is the point.

Horn will be fired after this season, Martin is having an awful season and I doubt will last, Trent Johnson is outrecruiting Anthony Grant. Not sure what you are proving.

Of course he is.
LOL.
Alabama has one open scholarship, we have five. Last year they signed four Top 100 recruits to our two, and all four of those guys are playing every night and averaging at least 15 minutes a game for a Top 25 team.
But Trent's outrecruiting Grant.
You might be right that Horn and Martin won't survive. Trent isn't exactly on the road to stardom when he can't beat South Alabama at home. And Horn and Martin at least act like they want to keep their jobs.

I'd rather have Isaac over every freshman guard Bama has. He has a higher ceiling IMO.
Isaac was an excellent find. Outstanding defender, great court vision, excellent stroke. He just needs more confidence, but you can definitely see the potential.
I'd also take Hickey over every freshman they have.
Nick Jacobs can play. JOB has more upside, but right now, I'd rather have Jacobs I think.
All things being equal, I'd take our freshman class over Bama's ten times over.

Recruiting rankings are not relevant once they get to college. On paper, Grant has recruited better. On the court, he hasn't. I have watched nearly all of Alabama's games, and that incoming class is a joke. Very overrated. I would not trade ours.
This is year three for grant, their best players are still Gottfried recruits.

We'll have to save this post for a year or two from now. Has a famous last words ring to it.

I'd rather our staff work hard and focus on recruiting 15 guys we have a real chance with than get spread too thin recruiting 40 guys, 25 of whom are not legitimately interested in anything besides maybe a free visit, then miss out on a local guy because he wasn't getting enough attention.

He's simply not doing the work on the recruiting trail. And when you get outworked in recruiting, you usually get beat up on the court. They're playing Marquette tonight, which is a tiny Catholic school in Milwaukee without a whole lot more basketball tradition than LSU (they have their moments just like we do, but since Al McGuire it's not like they're Duke) and a guy as their coach who came from UNO - and watch how much deeper and more talented they are than we tonight.
Ok. I watched. Now what?

Big win, wouldn't you say?

Bubba Hotep > macaoidh and it isn't even close.
Look macaoidh, you may be right about some things, but Bubba Hotep consistently provides this message board with outstanding basketball insight. He has definitely not been a TJ "supporter", but rather a guy who has provided knowledge and opinions on recruits. He's been critical as well as complimentary of TJ when warranted.
I've watched LSU basketball for a long time, and Brady got caught up in the the "recruiting magazine game"...he went after the guys that others said were good, but didn't really fit his program. The jury is still out on TJ, but he's at least doing it his way, and considering his history of success at other schools, I think he deserves a chance to make things happen here. How long should he get? I don't know, but it shouldn't be based on some BS publication that doesn't evaluate talent, but rather stats and hype.
As for Bubba Hotep, you're arguing with the wrong guy. They're idiots all over this board, he's definitely not one of them. Do a little homework and you will see that.

You can criticize Brady all you want, but you are absolutely wrong about his recruiting. He recruited three SEC championship teams in a decade including a Final Four and Sweet 16 team while dealing with draconian sanctions. Early entry to the NBA created inconsistency more than haphazard recruiting.

While Bubba and I have had our disagreements at times I totally concur tht he has done a great job of tracking basketball recruiting and has excellent insight into this often unpredictable activity.

Tonight was great. It offsets that ridiculous loss to South Alabama nicely. He's got to follow this up with a win over UVA if he wants it to mean something, though.
I'll give him credit in that for the first time since his first year he now has legitimate momentum percolating in the program. But it's not unprecedented for a good team to run into a buzzsaw on the road and that might be all this is.
We're still four guys short of a full roster next year, though, and while I hope this game helps to change that it's still a problem until Trent fixes it.

Yeah, that team with Big Baby and Tyrus and Tasmin and Darrell Mitchell had no talent at all. The fifth guy ended up a pro player too (Garrett Temple).
Imagine what that team might have looked like if Brady hadn't run Kentrell Gransberry off after the first exhibition game. He was only an All-Big East guy at USF for two years.
Brady didn't leave Trent with much talent either. Only three NBA players and a guy who scores 18 a game in the D-League.

Brady didn't run Kentrell Gransberry off. Gransberry did not have teh guts to stay and compete for playing time with Tasmin Mitchell, Tyrus Thomas, Darnell Lazare, Ross Neltner & Big Baby. So what if he was all conference in another league? Whoshould he have started over Tyrus? Baby?
I mean the guy quit because of lack of playing time in an exhibition game.
Basically he is a quitter.

Those three player Tyrus, temple and big baby only came here because of Collis. Tyrus was luck... He grew after his redshirt freshman year.
Plus not many schools recruited Tyrus so it wasn't like we stole him from someone.
What happened to DJ, Zeno Martin, tweety and foster?
