The other ONE was Dabo Swinney. And the one with O produced a national championship. Sure he went to shite, but so did Bobby Bowden and Bear Bryant at the end.

Don't think Urban was a coordinator before becoming a HC.

Dabo and Meyer account for 3 of the last 9 and had no Coordinator experience.

Dabo is the only one of those who was elevated to HC and won at that school with no previous coordinator or HC experience.

Meyer did have HC experience at a smaller school before he was at either school he won a Natty at.

O was DC under Kiffin at USC. He had not had coordinator experience before his first HC job.

Players ALWAYS want the interim to get the job. This is nothing.

Hmmm:

Looks similar to Ed O situation at LSU, only difference O had 3 year HC experience at Ole Miss (2005-2007) before he got the LSU job. For us older guys, Mike Archer situation at LSU after 86 season when Bill Arnsparger took the UF AD job.

Agreed. Jacoby sold out so hard. He took the bag and bailed on what he has called his “home team”.
Now he’s on social media saying he loving life as aggy? After their last 2 years of shite show?
Stay where you are jacoby

Aggies hiring Robinson would be equal to Moo State hiring Arnett, he aint ready for an SEC HC gig and u see how that worked out for Moo State and Arnett has better resume and was a Coordinator and not just a position coach, short term may be good to keep recruiting class together but long term will not work out as he will be on the job training.

Yep that is another good comparison. Pittman was an OL coach at UGA before getting the HC job at Arkansas. Archer was a DC on the LSU staff in 86 when he got promoted to HC (never was interim). Coach O was the interim at LSU in 2016 and got the LSU HC job for 2017, but while never being a DC he was a HC at Ole Miss.

he wasn’t but he was a successful HC at bowling green and Utah before getting the Florida job.

Pittman is going to get fired next year. He’s not a success story.

Am I hallucinating or did you really just put Ed Orgeron in the same sentence with Bobby Bowden and Bear Bryant

Three of the last nine National Championships were won by position coaches with no experience as coordinators.

I don’t think you can really compare Orgeron’s resume to Robinson’s. Orgeron had been coaching for over 30 years when he took the LSU job. He had been a P5 head coach before, and had worked under some big names (notably Pete Carroll during Orgeron’s first stint at USC). And while I will always be thankful for 2019, he also managed to bring us back to the Dinardo days when it was all said and done.

Robinson is only 38 years old and has never run a program at any level.

Dabo is certainly a better comp. But what are the odds Robinson turns into the next Dabo Swinney? It seems like a very risky hire.

I’m OK with it either way. If they roll the dice on Robinson and it doesn’t work out, it’ll set them back a few more years. If they go with someone else, it looks like they’ll have a mass exodus in the portal.
