The Texas/Oklahoma exemption does appear to be true. They aren't SEC until July so he would be eligible to transfer there. Again SEC rule and the SEC made the decision(at least agreed to it) that those 2 schools aren't bound by SEC rules until then because they earn no share($) until that date.

Is football a fall sport?

Yes.

Are Texas and Oklahoma playing SEC football in the fall?

Yes.

Did Jacoby Mathews enter the portal before February 1st?

No.

This isn't complicated. If Jacoby Mathews plays in the SEC in 2024, it'll be in a Texas A&M uniform.

The 2nd part is misleading. The May 1 deadline only applies to current SEC schools and in conference transfers. Texas/Oklahoma aren't current SEC members so their kids can transfer here and ours to them until July 1 which is after the deadline anyway.
The misleading part is that the article assumes people will infer the May 1 deadline for transfers within the SEC(the closed spring window essentially) only applies to those. It reads as if May 1 is the transfer deadline for fall sport eligibility in the SEC across the board which obviously isn't true or that the deadline applies to Texas/Oklahoma(this year)because they are headlined in the article.

Also, pretty impressive how wrong you got this.

To be eligible for fall sports:

Deadline per NCAA - May 1
Deadline for within conference transfers per SEC - Feb 1

Well that’s the NCAA being told they don’t have any power to enforce penalties.

LSU is a member institution of the SEC. If the SEC rules something, not much LSU can do to fight it.

All these schools are member institutions of the NCaA and when they rule something, the court overturns it. The SEC isn’t held any less to anti trust and labor laws than the NCAA.

If brought to court, they’d get the same ruling.

Could he not transfer to a junior college and then transfer to us in the fall?

So sick of seeing this guys name come up with LSU. If he wanted to be here, he would be here.

Yup, could have been here...had the opportunities...it's passed. Let him go somewhere else for his handout.

Ima say probably Texas. They not officially in SEC to July 1st.

Want there something that started though that even though that was the case the SEC was still enforcing that rule to them.

Probably not, but it’s a good rule

Why is it a good rule? If a player wants to transfer hess going to do so anyway, but the rule limits conference teams from having the same access to improve their roster as out of conference teams.

There aren't any rules that would allow him to transfer to lsu and be eligible for 2024 since there were coaching changes at Texas arse&M?
