These kids are going to the highest bidder. Thanks, NIL

Well we all believe in free markets don't we? SCOTUS (3 Democrat President appointed Liberals) and 6 Republican appointed Judges (Thomas, Bush 1), (Roberts and Alito, Bush 2), and (Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett, Trump) ruled 9-0 against NCAA in favor of NIL.

So these student athletes are going to be able to use the free market to get a sense of that their NIL is worth in the market place. My guess is every school is working with resources that are available on their own campus to take into account the brand of the Universities sports program and what Businesses are interested in paying NIL.

Of course, in the case of LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne, she negotiated a deal with a company out in Los Angeles worth > $1 million.

So SCOTUS ruled in June 9-0 in favor of NIL and a week after Bryce Young (who has not started a game yet) gets a $1 Million dollar NIL deal we see NIL already impacting recruiting.

Hmmm, the 2 negative votes: I believe in free markets for MEEEEEE and not for thheeeeeee if it impacts LSU football.

Let's be real. If you don't want to be in the same class as Walker Howard as an elite in state prospect, your priority is money and not winning

A&M beat us two out of the last three years and is viewed as rising.

Bama beat us two out of the last three years and is viewed is #1 all by themselves. If a recruit’s priority is winning, and he can go anywhere, he’s going to Alabama.

This smells like Saban

Felt like this from day one with this guy, even after he supposedly talked to others about coming to LSU

You can bet it's more than Brennan and Johnson are getting and that kid has yet to play a meaningful snap. Bama fans will hit the plasma place 3 times a week and whore out their mothers for the football team to be successful. Texas and A&M have ridiculously wealthy alums and are in more prosperous locations. The entire state of LA has 2 fortune 500 companies. Houston has the most in the world other than NYC. LSU will find it difficult to outbid any of those 3. Throw UGA and Florida in there too.

We can’t compete with their money fairly. Our boosters need to do a lot better than Walk-Ons sponsorships if we wanna land big fish in the future.

You are the booster big guy. Everyone thinks it's gonna fall from the sky from some rich alum or company, but we can't compete unless everyone is tossing in $100, $500, $1000 etc

He's just going for a visit. I highly doubt he's on commit watch to them. This probably won't be his last visit.

The next few years will tell us how committed LSU boosters really are. Recruiting now requires a large ongoing financial commitment from a lot of them. I don’t think it’s going to go well for LSU.

If Matthews is a harbinger of things to come, we could be headed for a large step back as a program.

Anybody ever consider that the kid is indeed 100% committed to the Tigers? Think about it. Dont you think he will get bigger NIL offers from the LSU side if he decommits? Now they are willing to give him a better offer if they have to entice him back. Make them fear theyre losing him. Panic buy. Low-key extortion if you will.....and they WILL!

Yeah it'll be their fault. Pony up some of your own money if you care so much. Really easy to spend other people's money and beat your chest when LSU is successful.

It's all NIL related for what I got, a close friend of his that committed at school (not A&M) already has a pre-signed NIL deal deferred until he starts there.

What do you expect. These are the same type of morons that tried to overthrow the government on January 6th. Ignorant is ignorant and these type of people are clearly ignorant.

Well here is the reality in NIL. Matthews does not have to sign till December. I don't know anything about how many Twitter and Instagram followers he has. But Olivia Dunne singed with a Sports Marketing Firm In LA that took into account her Social media following, so everything she sends something out, 4 million social media followers. So she monetizes her social media accounts and lets say Starbucks is one the companies that this LA Sports Marketing Firm got her a contract with, they reach 4 million potential customers. That is rivaling LeBron James from what I read.

Maybe Jacoby is going to go visit A&M, now Texas and OU to see what happens to his twitter following. So he has a realistic idea of what is potential NIL is worth the moment he signs wherever he signs. So lets assume it is LSU, he is signed and arrives on campus next June.

He sends something out on social media and lets say Raising Canes is a partner. So they have 5-star recruit and incoming LSU player J. Matthews enjoys eating at Raising Canes. He has lets say 100,000 followers and that is 100,000 potential customers that Raising canes is reaching.

It is not that hard to figure out, 5-star recruits are going to take all their visits, when they visit another school, more fans start following increasing his profile, etc, etc.

How many new LSU fans are now following him? I bet it was more than it was yesterday.
