re: Jabiari Tyler (Herb's son) - When does this young man get some looks?

Please explain this reasoning, and congratulations on being such a superb evaluator of talent.
First, Thank you.... and here's your explanation.
Having below average size there has to be something that sets you apart from other players. Without knocking on Jabiari, b/c he's an extremely talented HS football player, Tridon's speed is literally a game changer. Who cares if he was an "after thought". He got a scholarship and is one of the best returners in LSU history.
I don't know why you're getting so frustrated over a seemingly really good kid who just doesn't have the size or speed to be play for a big time college team.

He is listed at 5-9, but in reality he is likely 5-7. All I can say is I have seen him play, and he is a play maker. Great vision. Great arm strength. Great quickness....almost as if he is on a different level of those around him in 2A. And I realize it's 2A.

Not frustrated at all, just amazed at all the experts on here.

I'm impressed by his pocket presence and his ability to make more than one read before running with the ball. That tells me he actually understands the quarterback position and isn't just an athlete playing QB.
He puts great touch on the ball and seems to be pretty accurate (then again this is a highlight reel).

I absolutely know nothing about this kid, but his father was one of the truest Tigers I've ever had the privilege of watching.
UF, in particular, used to cheap-shot Herb every chance they got. He'd be battered & exhuasted...and STILL step up to the line, take the snap, and hang right in there while they bared down on him.
I frickin' LOVE Herb Tyler!!!

A fine young man; no doubt the result of his father's tutelage. The old adage has never been more accurate, like father, like son.
Reality is he does not have the size for LSU, without a position change. I am sure he has sights on more than just a specialist. He will get get that opportunity somewhere. In what seems like another life & Texas exile, I used to do a recruiting seminar for a group of high schools. The message I hope they heard was, if you want to play college ball, there is a place to play - it might not be LSU, Tx or A&M, but there is a place to play.
Tulane would be be a fit & certainly the Ivy League. Don't be surprised to see Ga. Tech & the military academies show some love. I am hoping he gets a call from Stanford & just ask, "Where do I sign"?
Herb is an intelligent, warm, caring Tiger alumni & dad. No one understands and accepts the reality more than he.

4.4 is good speed... But, at 5'6 if he wants to hear from bigger schools he needs to be faster. I know you don't like to hear this, but I've coached many kids who are 5'7-9 weigh in between 160-180 and run legit 4.4's. None of them went anywhere big to play. 4.4 at camps is 4.5/4.6 in pads. McNeese, Grambling , Southern, and LC are the schools they get looked at by.
I'm not saying he can't play college ball.

How many kids did you coach put up better season numbers than Peyton and Eli Manning....and can run 4.4 speed?
Post some names, b/c I am intrigued. I personally haven't seen talent like Jay's in a while - in a guy his size. He just takes over games...plain and simple.

If he grows to 5'9, 5'10 I can surely see him getting looks from major schools to play WR or DB.
Please stop acting like I have something personal against this kid. He has put some great numbers up.....and his team is VASTLY better than the other teams they played.
I just went to the rivals and hit quick search on WR's.
1. 6 kids out of 1,143 WR's are ranked under 5'8
2. only two have committed to Ball St and San Jose St.
You just don't see kids under 5'8 make it to major college football often at all. AND THAT IS ALL IM SAYING!!!!!

Why are you getting so frustrated, lol??
I think we all know he probably won't be what LSU needs, but what the ex-teammates of Herb think is that out of respect, LSU should give him some attention like our biggest competitor has, that's all. It might help him get more looks if LSU shows a little interest.

Not really sure if he'll be good enough to play at LSU, but I have no doubt Les will do what he can to help out the son of a great Tiger.
Les has plenty of contacts from his days coaching, both in Louisiana and out of state. He can make some calls and get the word out about Jabiari so he lands in a great situation where he can play and play his position of choice.

I don't know. a lot of those guys see it as disrespect that LSU hasn't made any kind of move on him especially after bama had him for a visit this season.
He visited LSU this season for at least one game this season, I know that.
Sounds like LSU is on him just as much as Bama.
I understand he isn't being highly recruited by LSU right now, but he's also c/o 2015. The staff has been recruiting juniors, but not like 2014 kids. The '15 kids recruiting will really start to pick up after signing day. Not many instate kids are being pressed right now, only a few have offers. Wait until the Boys of the Boot, I'm sure theres a good chance Tyler attends.

video is impressive, but i just don't see him at an SEC level. I see him at a conference USA school like Tulane, Southern Miss, Etc. Im not a professional scout though so take what i say with a grain of salt.

We didn't offer Bert jones' brother
Also if he really was a d1 player and he is not surrounded by retards how did his team lose to Opelousas Catholic?
I like herb. Friend of mine coached him in playground ball another in hS
Jay is a good kid -

So, the argument is he is not D1 talent because Newman lost to OC in a playoff game? Damn, guess Duece Wallace and all the talent at Riverside aren't D1 prospects either since they lost to STA in the first round too.
I was at the game, and Jay had a decent game. Only problem is they started almost every drive inside their own 20, and OC probably had the ball 34 minutes to Newmans 14. OC was in I formation and simply drove the ball on the short field they had due to Newman punting issues. Not to mention Newman had a safety on a snap and a missed extra point....3 given to OC and Newman lost by 2.
I'll make a prediction - this film gets out and he starts getting looks...you ready for this...at QB.

This kid could probably shred it at Navy, SMU, or similar.
So is he 5'6" or 5'9"?
