Does he have an offer from anyone else?

He looks like another Randall Macky with opposite character issues.

That being said, I don't think we should offer him just because he's Herb's son. (And I love Herb Tyler!) But the kid will get offers on his own if he deserves them.

FWIW IMHO

f you aren't on an athletic scholarship you don't count against the 85 limit..plenty of walk ons have TOPS

If you play and you receive any institutional aid, you count whether recruited or not. If you play within the first two years, you're an initial counter (i.e. the 25); after that you just count against the 85.

TOPS is kind of a grey area thing. I don't know for sure whether it counts as institutional aid or not. Someone with experience with it might be able to say for sure. If you want to look up the definition of institutional financial aid it is 15.02.4.1.

Good thing he's not a Senior this year, then.

Really? Trindon is lighting it up on Sundays.
You do realize Trindon was not being recruited by LSU by the previous coach, don't you? He was also an after thought in his recruiting class. So you knew he would make it to the NFL, yet say this kid shouldn't be recruited based on his size? Really?
Please explain this reasoning, and congratulations on being such a superb evaluator of talent.

That's awesome. And it's great that Herb still supports LSU. But, and this is no disrespect to Herb or any former Tiger, LSU owes them nothing.

And Herb didn't come on here and pimp his son, this is directed at the guy saying players from the late 90's are pissed

Wish him and his son nothing but the best, but some of you people need a reality check.

Jay's recruitment will pick up this Summer, as he and Danny Cameron will be the QB's for the Louisiana Bootleggers 7 on 7 team.
For the Record, Herb is NOT one of the ones complaining, please understand this.
Eta, not directed at you, Wise Guy.

Jay's size is greatly exaggerated like many things on recruiting message boards. He's 5'9.

He also speaks multiple languages and has a 4.0+ GPA. He'll probably ball out in the Ivy League.

Well no disrespect to Mr. Tyler but if his son gets an offer from LSU it won't be because of who his dad is. Plain and simple. How anyone can be pissed about this is crazy.

Honestly fellas what position can he play for us? Wr? I mean his dad was an exception to the rule simply bc we ran the option which got him out on the edges to make up for his lack of height.

I was simply reminding people that Herb posts here. Not that anyone would insult the child. Just reminding.

In the same vein that I dont want LSU taking a friend of a prospect to try to get him commited, i dont want to pick a guy just because hes a legacy.

herb was one of my all time favorites and we actually grew up in the same neighborhood. he and my brother were in grade school together. csb

in reality his son has to play something else aside from qb. he would be awesome at a school that primarily ran the option given his athletic ability.

I was thinking the same thing. Curtis Johnson loves these types of players.

The kid is a really good player but in no way a QB at the next level right now in the SEC. So what position would he play here and how does he compare to others at that position?
