Any news on this guy?? I remember reading LSU was supposably trailing a handful of schools in his recruitment. Has anything changed since?? Hope this guy doesn't go to BAMA. We need to keep the best in state!

Your timing for asking this is very curious. I haven't read anything about him in several weeks, but Spiegs just tweeted that he's about to drop a top 10 and LSU should be included.

Holy frick, just looked him up. I knew he was a 5 star, but didn't know he was the number 1 player in the country. Orgeron knows that he's screwed if he doesn't bring in the number one player in the nation who happens to be a defensive tackle. He will give it everything he's got.

Not trying to be a downer, but the kid is going to Bama. There is an Amite Pipeline that has been established. Don't judge O by his ability to pull Sopsher and Lee. Now I will say if we do pull both of those kids, somebody's bag man is bigger than somebody else's.

Orgeron won't be outworked for this kid, I can promise you. Whether he comes here or not is another question. Amite is not exactly LSU territory.

When is the last time we signed a player from there? They've had plenty with offers from LSU.

Depends on if O can beat the Barber and also Bama director of player personnel, Petitto. Petitto has his hooks in deep in that area and is close to those kids. It is why Devonta Smith went to Bama.

I could be completely wrong here but I don't think we ever signed a player from Amite. If we did it was years ago. There was a thread about this a few months back and I did a little searching. All the top players pretty much in the history of Amite went elsewhere.

Unless he left, Sam Petitto is on the Bama staff and is the connection, bag man, (whatever noun you want to use) to Amite. It wasn't a coincidence Devonta Smith switched from UGA to Bama after Petitto left the UGA staff for Bama.

I'm sure O will put in the work, but LSU is fighting an uphill battle against Bama now with Amite kids

Labrandon Toefield was from Independence (Amite area). Probably the last major contributor from there.

go to Amite and get your haircut at this barbershop

then report back to the board with your objective findings

FYI (some of this has already been mentioned) - Sam Petito was hired away from Georgia in 2016 by Saban. SP is the ALA Asst. Director of Player Personnel. SP got his HS coaching start at Amite and knows all of these kids. Additionally, Vincent Sanders is the mentor to these kids and in their ears daily. He literally wears his allegiance on his sleeves. Sanders on right with Devonta Smith, who in my opinion was never going to LSU. If I remember correctly, Sanders has previously brought HS kids to the LSU football camps and showed up wearing ALA clothing

That's my point. Kentwood, Amite, and until recently independence churn out players like factories for college football. We haven't had much luck there in about 15 years because of a few shady individuals.
