Is there any chance of Peyton Todd taking a gray-shirt?

It would open up one more spot for a high school kid or a grad transfer, JUCO, etc. If ZVR were to stay he wouldn’t play anyway plus if ZVR goes pro you can make Avery Atkins the punter for one year and then give a scholarship to Todd.

Yes there is a chance, I'm sure this has been discussed with Todd as well and I'm sure he'd actually be somewhat ok with. Is he worth a scholarship? Absolutely. But I'm fairly certain this has been talked about with him.

Who was the last guy to grayshirt at LSU? Seems like this never happens nowadays.

ETA: While trying to find out about Avery Atkins’ punting abilities, I just realized that he was an all-state (7A in Alabama) safety in high school.

... just saying.

He’s absolutely deserving of a scholly and he would get one after one year. I think it’s just an easy way to open up a spot. I would be just fine having Atkins punt next year if it means we land an extra OL or DB.

ZVR will retire from LSU football with benefits and a pension when he finally leaves us.

After two years, he can get a scholarship without it counting against the 25.

LSU will need some of these to ever get back to 85. I would be recruiting some high level PWO prospects, even higher level than normal, and guaranteeing them a scholarship in 2 years,

Hopefully Cox, Gaye, Ingram, Deculus, Anthony, Kirklin, Baskerville, Thornton, Farrell, and Logan.

Even players like Shanahan, Darren Evans and Soni Fonua could make big leaps with another year in the system.

We really need almost everyone to return for depth and scholarship purposes.

I'm pretty sure they changed the rule within the past year or two and they only have to walk on for one year before they stop counting against the 25.

You may be right, but that seems too easy to manipulate.

Cox already accepted senior bowl invite along with Racey.

Gaye and Ingram are the only one of anyone you mentioned that could benefit from another year but both are most likely gone.

The rest have literally hit their ceiling. They are what they are

I disagree, but even so we need numbers.

I definitely think Baskerville could improve a lot. Shanahan with a year in an SEC weight program could improve.

“Peaked” is used too much when talking about college players. Few 20-21 year olds have peaked,

I could see gaye coming back. He is 50/50
With another year of film he will move up a lot in the draft.

I feel like ingram is gone.

I agree that Shanahan and baskerville can improve

Because there is no such thing. He would essentially be a walk on like anyone else. If he is awarded a scholarship in a couple years he is just a walkon who earned scholly status.

I wouldn’t see why not. As long as he doesn’t have a huge ego it wouldn’t e a big deal with TOPS
