Verbals and rankings mean nothing until a kid signs on the dotted line. Until then it's all rumor, innuendo, and speculation as to where these kids end up.

Statistically, I suspect that they mean allot and you never get someone that doesn’t verbally commit to you so a verbal commitment does mean that you have a better that zero shot of landing a prospect. I would even guess that the average is probably upwards of 50+% at least so it means allot...it just ain’t over till it’s over.

A verbal isn't a guarantee, but it is a strong indicator on where a recruit signs. I would venture to guess that about 80-90% of verbals stick with their commitment.

bullshite!
Every year the teams with the top 5 verbals wind up in the top 7 or 8 after signing.

For some maybe, but I think the majority follow through with their verbals, and the coaches likely have a good idea who the solid commits are. For instance, if my son becomes a D1 prospect in high school, the first time a staff member visits our home, they would etch his name in stone upon returning to BR.

While agree it’s far from a binding agreement, it still means something.

It doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll hang onto the kid but it does mean that the coaches presented the program on such a way to the player that they are willing to commit.

Idk what some of you guys want. If no one commits over the weekend, y’all would complain that O can’t close. When we do get a couple of commits, y’all claim verbals mean nothing.

Just enjoy the fact that we have top recruits interested in our program and hope that we can land the majority of them.
