I've read most of the posts and I can't believe that no one is mentioned the possibility that Bama is taking it to another level with their recruiting. Families with new vehicles are starting to add up in the Monroe and West Monroe area. It is only a matter of time before someone gets fed up with it and turns them in.

Oh man. I didn't want to steer the conversation in this direction, but there's some definite truth to this (and I know because I was a young black male at Redemptorist in the 90s).
At that time there was some definite animosity (whether warranted or not) towards LSU in my friends' circle. Most of the black students had Southern University ties, but would be belittled for supporting SU as opposed to LSU since of course SU competes at a lower level, so they would latch onto whatever teams would beat LSU or were superior to LSU as a means to get back at that strong LSU contingent. Not saying this was right or whatever, it was just the cultural climate at the time. And I wouldn't be surprised if there was this kind of similar divide today.
Interesting yet somewhat disturbing perspective. Since LSU's team is predominatly black it seems odd that there would be a prejudice against them from the YBM's perspective. I've noticed, if anything, Bama seems to have more white players, particularly on the offensive line. And I would think the state of Alabama would be the last place a YBM would feel a lack of prejudice against him.

Agreed...
Now moving forward getting the right recruiters canvasing the area should be our focus...

No mention of a certain eye doctor in Monroe being a serious REC contributor. I hope that dude's business starts to suffer.
They've got Bama handlers getting paid by louisiana taxpayers working in our high schools and pushing players to Bama. Those cats should be out of a job tomorrow.

There is no doubt you are correct given the fact that their professional career (if by professional you mean pay for play) has already begun.

I'd say, from my experience, there's probably more LSU-hate in the Lafayette area than any other in the state...
Since this area and race were brought into the thread, I'll share my opinion on the matter...
As a college aged black male with deep roots in the Acadiana area, I'll tell you, most of us(at least the black young males I've encountered) in the area are overwhelmingly LSU fans. The overwhelming majority of people who bash LSU are misinformed UL-L fans, who are in large part non-black. Not many of people in my demographic would associate the two universities, they are and will forever be on two different levels.
That area has brought forward a lot of notable Tigers, and a guy like Kevin Faulk (Carencro) is held in high regard by the black community in Acadiana.
Look back since Faulk, the area you speak of has been one of the most loyal.

I didn't mention prejudice. Just that there were a lot of connections in my circle to Southern University and not LSU. Pro-LSU students would ridicule the SU supporters for supporting inferior football. In turn, SU supporters would support any and every major college team that wasn't LSU, out of spite.
I think times have changed for the better in the past 20 years but I wouldn't doubt that it still goes on to some extent.

You really believe what all these recruits say?

Posted on 12/2/13 at 9:10 pm to Victrola Wayne
No one understands how to put the full court press on recruits like Nick Saban. There are several S. La recruits who have signed with Bama, unfortunately two of the top happen to be from the Monroe area and got Nicks full attention.
Someone told me (former SEC school athletic dept official) that Nick focuses really hard on a few recruits while most schools spread themselves too thin. He's the best in the business for a reason.
Miles is a very good recruiter but for some kids who just want to play for Bama, you can't over come that.

This is utterly ridiculous. Grown arse men crying over kids making the best choice for THEM. I know this is a Lsu board but Gotdamn. For the love of God have some pride and grow a pair. This is sad. There are plenty other recruits to get who will leave their HOME STATE to go to Lsu.
Sad.....
Sad.....

you obviously had to add the OL, safeties is easy:
Texas 2 in last 5 years (0 first rd in 2009, 2011)
OL:
- Bama 4
- Wisky 3
- 5 others with 2
- 16 others with 1
(not included TE's)
Yes we all know LSU hasn't had an OL drafted in first round in several years. Would it surprise you to know neither has Mich or Texas?
And it's been stated before, indeed by Hootie himself, he is NOT a "lifelong LSU fan". His dream school was tOSU. CRob DID state he was, I emphasize was, a lifelong LSU fan (I say he's a Saban fan but I get ripped or that).
