I am good with it. We can make priority for a couple of good RB’s in 2021.

I realize having just 3 RB’s on the roster isn’t ideal as far as depth, but we don’t use backs like we used to where we were running the ball almost 70% of the time under Miles.

We have three incredible backs on scholly next year, assuming CEH goes pro, and all three can tote the rock! All three are starters on just about any team you put them on. So as much as I hope we might get a Gibbs, if we don’t we shouldn’t sweat it we are still in really good hands with the Attorney’s of Curry, Emery & Price

There’s no room for error with only three RBs. We need another guy.

Nah.....I’m not a fan of skipping a position in given class. That’s how you get in a serious bind.

We don’t use them like we did under miles but expect to see them more next year. All 3 have potential to leave their junior years so not having experience behind them could hurt us in the near future.

So yeah it wouldn’t kill us if we didn’t pull one this year but next year we will need a nice haul.

We’re going to sign another RB. I think it’s important to do so this year. It MAY not hurt us next year but I’d like not to take that chance. I’m sure the staff feels the same.

If we happen not to sign one this year then the staff needs to be looking now for a good and hopefully younger transfer or JUCO RB for next year. I would also be recruiting the best 5* or high 4* RB who could come in and play immediately. We will be playing freshman in 2 years if we don’t sign a guy in this class.

The best case outcome would be to sign the best available guy this year and maybe another guy who you see could develop or get the best available this year and sign two or 3 top 10 backs next year.

They're gonna take one this year. And then likely 2 next anyway.

Well I'm not good with it. Realistically we have 2 RBs we feel strong about being here next season and a one hopeful. The staff rolled the dice on Evans and got snubbed but fuk it, over it now. Hopefully another recruiting lesson learned for O and this staff with that dude. We need a RB in this class! We were extremely fortunate to not get plagued by injuries at that position this year but it's not that uncommon for a college program to be down there 2 top backs at some point throughout a season.
And at this point in my mind, we are an underdog for getting Gibbs. Not at all getting my hopes up for him but great if we do.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it is worth noting of all the positions RB is the one it is easiest to get a freshman serviceable for in a pinch.

And I said serviceable for a reason. Maybe not 'ready' or optimum, but good enough.

So we've talked extensively about WRs (because of 2 flipaways) and we see a pretty good 2021 class coming. What about 2021 RBs? IF we can't get a quality back late in the game, what do y'all see out there for catch up that we lead for?

Orgeron going to make it priority if he don't get any by February. Probably take a late transfer. There will be avail if no running back commits.

Most likely will have to recruit OOS RB next year. Louisiana very light on RB recruits. Scan TX and FLA to find a good one that fits our offense.

There are still 5-6 RB available this recruiting year. We should focus and bring one in.

Should have learned our lesson regarding OOS RB, don't get all in for one and miss out on other good prospects.

Totally agree. Even if you have to sign a guy who is further down the board and won’t play much if at all next year, you’ve got to have some depth.

That’s not the issue. The issue with three backs is if one goes down, you’re playing with fire. What do you do in blowouts? Play your #2 guy with no breaks or sub in your starter and risk him going down and leave you like Texas this year, converting QBs and WRs to play RB?

Running backs get hurt all the time.

What if we get stuck in a situation like the Troy State game in 2017 when our top two backs are both hurt and all you have is one? You can't put yourself in that position.

You need four backs. Period.

Wheaton from Lakeview Centenial [Garland Tx]

Johnson from Cy-Fair [Cypress Tx]

I've watched both fella's ball, IMO, Johnson is the better "all round back". Like most young'ns, reading and picking up the blitz will need work at the next level. Would hope that DJ and Trob go all in.

LSU doesn't lead for either however, I don't think LSU is pushing that hard. No ISI just like what I see.

Emery sums it up best.

We are fine if no injuries, but why take the risk? This class is solid and biggest want for me with remaining spots is at least one more OL. But we have 5 spots left with McGlothern's announcement, so it makes sense that one should be used on a RB.
