These kids are going to Oxford for the money. With a few exceptions, that is the only reason.

Beat to death. I get it. We should be balls in every year and spending NIL hard. It’s the new face of the game. LSU needs to wake up. If OM can spend so can anyone else.

They have an organized NIL/booster structure where everyone is rowing in the same direction

LSU has the opposite

They been saving for years , and their people actually donate to the collective vs ours doing deals directly with the athletes/coaches

Give it a year and see if it pans out.

We thought A&M was taking the sport by storm too at one point.

It didn’t work out so well for the Aggies. Having a squad full of mercenaries doesn’t bring a whole lot of cohesiveness, which is the very essence of team. I’m hoping it’s another failed experiment. And if it turns out to be a massive failure it might actually get you fired, based on the huge amount of NIL committed.

Funny thing is one of Ole Miss big boosters is Matt Bowers. Selling his cars in NOLA and BR and spending LSU fans money to lure players to Ole Miss.

They don’t have the $$ to compete with us or several others in the SEC. What THEY ARE doing is focusing the $$ they do have on the portal!

We are spending on retention and recruiting, as well as the portal. Ole Miss is only putting money into the portal.

Daniels didn’t come back this season without some incentive to do so. I can guarantee you we paid Nuss something to hang around for his turn. Smith and Wingo will be paid to stay and not leave early for the draft. Same with Perkins. Do you guys really 5-10 teams have reached out to his people to try and shake him loose?

Retention costs money. Look around the SEC and you see rotation guys and even starters leaving around the league. That’s not happening here yet. Everyone who has left so far was lower on the depth chart at this point. Martinez is the only one really on the two deep and it’s pretty clear he wasn’t going to ever start for us without injuries happening. My point is this- if guys on the two deep aren’t leaving, then we are putting money and time into retaining them.

Also look at the 25 class. We’ll see how many we close the deal with, but we wouldn’t be in it at all or securing early commitments without showing some significant cash for a #1 QB and #1 WR.

We spend far more than ole miss already. It’s not even close. They are just throwing everything the got at this one year hoping and praying for a miracle (that will never happen for a shite program like ole miss)

Colorado tried this too and thought they were going to take college football by storm. It was more like a spring shower.

Takes a certain type of coaching staff to spin and manage these plates and those who been successful in the past will continue to be so. Those who wish to be - not so much - a bolt of lightning on occasion but not much more

FSU tried it to huge success. We've tried it with mixed results and ended up with the worst defense in our history and lost to Ole Miss with a Heisman QB. Are we sure we should be talking shite?
We claim "mercenaries" will never win anything and are ruining the sport. 1st page of the recruiting board the past few weeks has had more threads begging for these "mercenaries" more than hs kids. Why are we such hypocrites? We have to be among the most mentally unbalanced fanbases in the country. Have to be.
