Really can't wait to see what Coach Wade does with an actual recruiting year to work with. He's clearly turned his nose up any thought that his first years team will just be awful and went out and got some immediate help. Whether or not these transfers and late hour recruits translates into a few more wins or something like making the NCAA tournament is kinda just an extra present if that transpires. The day Coach Wade had his intro presser Hannogriff compared the new attitude to being let out of basketball jail...and that's exactly what this is. Will Wade wasn't content on just working with what he had and going through a total B.S. first year that wouldn't compare to the rest of his tenure...instead he went out and got guys to stay committed, brought in recruits and transfers all eligible immediately and might cap it with a top 50 guard as if what he's done already wasn't moving mountains here....Imagine what this team is looking like in 2019....with this sort of start, how are they not at the very least back in the NCAA tournament and a top 3 program behind UK and UF....Outside of Nick Saban and Skip Bertman this might turn out to be the best hire LSU has ever made across all sports.

Enthusiasm is high (and it should be). But he hasn't coached a single game at LSU, so blanket statements like this are dumb, or at least premature. Plus, you could have easily made this same statement about Johnny Jones going into his first season.

In year one Jones came in an got JOBIII to stay after the coaching change. He got Malik Morgan (LSU's only real commit at the time) to stay. He also brought in transfers to contribute right away (Coleman and Carmouche) He then had a big time first full recruiting class: Martin (11), Mickey (30) Quarterman (77). He had an even better class in 2015: Simmons, Blakeney, Sampson.

That's not saying Wade won't have a much better LSU tenure than Jones (I absolutely think he will), but we might want to hold off on the hyperbole until, ya know, he actually coaches a few games/seasons

You're right...I didn't remember that. It's still ideal to get them on campus to take part in summer workouts.

I wonder how many options are out there. Most of the names we've seen have committed somewhere else.

eta: I forgot about Antino Jackson (the Akron transfer). He committed to UNM like a month ago.

gcockboi, I don't know if you are old enough to remember, but LSU was a POWERHOUSE not all that long ago, and I would put our all time team up against ANYBODY!!!! All we need here is the right coach to get back to where we should be. I have met and talked to coach Wade since he was hired, and I think we hit a homerun with him.

We just came off a Final four and recruiting is going great (Frank recruits hard working diamonds) and it pays off, as they play awesome as a team and there is zero drama. Arky was considered a blue blood in the 90s and have an elite 8 team or better this year and their recruiting is going well for the conceivable future. State has a final 4 coach that brings in top classes, Bama and Auburn both have great coaches that are bringing in top classes every year. It's just premature to say Wade will get ya'll in the "top 3" on a yearly basis. This conference is loaded with great coaches.
I actually follow VCU, because I liked their full court trapping and up tempo style of play. I think he's a good coach, but nothing special like that guy was trying to make him seem like.

I am not betting my life wade is the second coming, I am saying that only kentucky has had better players than LSU over sec history (and they have had more not necessarily better).Logically it can be stated that putting a really good coach in Baton Rouge would result in LSU returning to dominance. Not complicated reasoning.

Wade will absolutely end up being the best Basketball Coach LSU has had besides Dale.

Dale wasn't an x & o's guy but sold LSU Basketball and built the program.

If today is the first day of summer classes at LSU, and Waters has not enrolled can he enroll later (by this Friday, for example for summer? Or does him not enrolling by today mean he cannot enroll until the fall, and that he cannot participate in any summer workouts?

I'm not sure. I just knew that classes started today. I am really confused what this kid is waiting for. Needs to make a decision and go for it. He will start to fall behind if he isn't careful.

FWIW, Brian Bowen committed to Louisville on Friday. He was basically the only other big name recruit who was undecided.

I don't think he has to be enrolled by today but he obv needs to make a decision soon so he can take part in summer workouts. I'd guess that deadline is sometime this week.

Not sure if the rules have changed, but players who were not enrolled in summer school could still work out with the team several years ago. They were not on scholarship and had to pay for their own housing etc.

The fact that he didn't commit yet after taking a visit this late kinda worried me

what may be more worrisome is that for some reason (dad?), this kid can pick a school after all his peers have done so.

Yeah, its a big decision, but schools have likely been courting him for 3 years. time to choose.......

eta: and the news breaks 30 minutes later.......you are welcome LSU fans
