When it came out that LSU could only get him if they offered his brother, but Alabama didn't have to offer his brother to get him it was a done deal he was going to Bama.

As someone in one of these threads mentioned, it was a way to get us holding to open scholarships on signing day.

We're not going to compete with bama on the field or in recruiting any time soon. We need to get used to it.

Just blows my mind how Louisiana kids would want to damage the flagship University of his home state, by playing Saban's games. Kinda like putting a knife in the back of your own family? That's what Robinson, Moses, Jones, Allen, Mathis, D Smith etc. have done.

Here's a little secret. Many black kids in LSU don't really give a shite about the "home state school". They just support the best/popular school. At the moment that happens to be Alabama. That was the case in the late 80's/90's when everyone was either a Miami or Florida St. fan. Now, you see more "Bama fans" in LA than ever before. I have several black friends who 10 years ago couldn't even tell you who Alabama was playing on a given week. Today they are "die hard" Alabama fans touting "their" national titles, etc.

Many of these kids are from poor backgrounds and they just see college as a necessary stepping stone to NFL millions. They choose where to attend college based upon who they think is best equipped to get them to the NFL riches. For many, that's Bama.

They don't feel they are stabbing their home state in the back, because there was no sense of loyalty in the first place. That's not a knock on the kids (who am I to tell someone where they should attend college), just a reality.

I heard o had a few 3* rated hire than sophser anyway. You’ll see. He just neeeds TIME LES MILES

All joking aside, we currently have 3 OTs and Kardell (OG) currently committed and a rumored (see-VolTiger) 5 star OT that we could flip. I wonder if that will result in a couple of our 2018 DL that flipped to OL to flip back.

We may be doing more flips than LSU gymnastics. (OK, maybe not all joking aside).

and that might mean taking two lower rated 4 star recruits instead of taking a 3 star we don't need in order to get a borderline 5 star

Sophsher is not a borderline 5-star. He's the consensus #1 DT in the country.

Guarantee you somehow Bama will sign Ish and tell Rodney to kick rocks. Doubt they offer that package deal bullshite to a kid that'll never see the field.

They don't have to. They aren't offering to take him in the first place.

Do you feel the same way about guys we sign from other states?

Im sure there's a fan somewhere in Florida and Texas saying the same thing about all of the players that decide to come to LSU.

This is the cold hard truth. Even here in Baton Rouge the same is true. As silly as it sounds, some are still holding onto a grudge based on how they think Jordan Jefferson and Brandon Harris were mistreated by both the fanbase and coaches. That’s straight from locals mouths.

Yeah, Jamal Adams and Patrick Peterson are the worst! How dare Burrow put a knife to the back of Cinci!

Yet he's not the #1 DT on Bama's board.

How embarrassing for O. Is this really what LSU recruiting has become?

We are so short on DL so they extend the only div 1 Offer to his little brother as a package deal to get an instate DL (DL is meant to be Orgerons specialty).

Now looks as though he's gonna head to Bama who didn't even have to offer Rodney and they have a lot more top rated DL than LSU.

Let's face it Saban will never give O the the respect like he did Miles. He probably laughs when recruits like Sophser see it is a LSU bama battle. How easily would it be to persuae kid. Honestly what argument could fricking O ever have to win a recruiting battle over Bama? It's going to take a good 2 to 3 years of successful seasons before O is taken seriously and there's no way he is a good enough coach to win with lesser talent so there's no way that will ever happen.

When has it ever been ok with not having a chance to beat bama especially inside death valley since 2000? Well everyone's chalked it up as a loss already and seems to be fine about it because they look very good. Well that's mediocrity for you, so get used to it..

No sense? Miles won many recruiting battles against Saban. Saban knew Miles was his biggest threat in the SEC, he tried his hardest to poach top Lousiana talent each year to bring down Miles. Yes he did succeed with some (as he should) but let's face if the ones we needed Miles rarely let go. O will never be given that respect without a NC or at least an SEC one. I hate to break it to you that will not be happening whilst he is coach.

let it play out until NSD again and watch LSU get hung out to dry. If the kid wanted in here he would be in. Let's watch Saban play with O again

Yeah. No sense. What does Saban giving Miles respect have to do with us losing or keeping recruits? You think Saban supposedly "respecting" Miles was the reason Miles was able to win some of their head to head battles? As if Saban respected Miles so he didn't go all out for guys he really wanted?

I stand by my original post. That makes no fricking sense.
