Great news! Transfer portal rules are unenforceable - players can move whenever.

Well yeah. The NCAA loses every court case or just buckles once they're brought to court.
Really sucks we didn't wait out that basketball situation.

You need collective bargaining to change the rules.

Can’t be enforced without collective bargaining. Someone will have to represent the players in this matter, otherwise, the players will sue and anti trust laws will side with them.

exactly - the NCAA is tired of getting their arse handed to them in court and paying attorney fees, court costs, etc .... Now they just roll over, play dead, and say FK it ! 18-24 yr old CFB athletes can do whatever they want. Saban saw the writing on the wall, which is one reason why he retired from coaching. Kids have more leverage than the HC's who can't do a darn thing about it

This literal only way to fix this is to have a commissioner with some sort of players union

Is a court eventually going to say that any player on a University sanctioned football team doesn't even need to be a student/enrolled? I feel like there is eventually a point where NCAA's rules wouldn't be considered arbitrary or somehow law breaking by demanding any athlete that plays for a University, must also be enrolled and academically eligible.

College football is going to have to abandon the NCAA and form their own league and emulate the NFL. It's the wild fricking west right now.

ETA: I did not see Captain Crown's gif when I wrote "wild fricking west".

Exactly this.

Step 1 is getting revenue sharing in place. From that point it will move to the players having a union.

As of this day there is no point in having a union because the players hold damn near 100% of the power. With Rev sharing the universities/conferences/NCAA get a bit of control because they can say you are getting X amount of the revenue. Players want more, governing body says we will give you 22% instead of 20% if you agree to these transfer rules.

You strike deals that way, and the courts can now be removed from the equation. At least at the extent they are involved now.

That's when we get back to some structure. It will never be back to the same, but it can move into a much better spot.

I don't think it works this way. Without a collectively bargained agreement, this would be collusion between schools and destroyed in court.

Woodward didn’t want to wait it out, he wanted his man in. He got his man in all his pathetic glory.

Just cancel college sports and tell them all to call the UFL, the new GLeague, for the NFL.
