Quick question - are the offers from “quality” schools immediately committable, “we will hold a spot for you until February 2019” offers? Offers to come throw at their most “elite” camp? Or somewhere in between?

Thanks for the insight into the process.

As far as Quad being Fragile, I do take exception to that comment, bc he’s without doubt the most heady young athlete I’ve ever met

I never said he was fragile. Just said I hope that he isn't as fragile as the poster I replied to seems to be.

He also has a few offers from I guess what you all would call “Quality” schools that frankly finished higher than LSU in the Top 25 this last season. These offers will be announced after attending those junior days

That seems more offensive to me than what LSU seems to be doing.

LSU seems to be taking their time. The QB position is a massive need, and a very fragile position for LSU. If they offer Quad, and he commits on the spot, that may cause some QBs (who the coaches feel may be higher on the board as of this point....and its still super super early) to back off. I've alluded to this before, that you guys letting LSU coaches know that Quad is theirs if they come calling, allows them to really slow play this even more.

But back to my point..

The other "quality" schools seem to be saying. Hey, we will offer you, but not yet. That seems like they are saying, we want you but you arent option 1. So we want you to starting gaining interest in us, while we guage interest from other QBs before we actually offer.

Seems more offensive than what LSU is doing to me.

They must have a very good feeling about Gunnell. From what Coach says they do keep in contact with Quad and have asked him to camp but there must be something there with Gunnell.

They are probably pushing hard for Gunnell at this point, and you can't blame them for that.

If they feel they can land him, then the question becomes is 2 QBs a need for this class. And, if they risk losing Gunnell by signing two.

As they should, Gunnell is a freaking stud.

I feel like Hold That Tiger hit the nail on the head. This staff has interest in Quad, but they are putting all their attention on Gunnell and keeping Quad close in case they need a fall back option. If he loves LSU and isn't afraid of competition, then this shouldn't be an issue.

I hope LSU lands a quality QB in their 2019 class, whether it is Quad, Gunnell, both of them or someone else.

I admittedly have not read all 600 plus posts, so here is my question: For those who know quite a bit about Quad, do you think he will be rated a 4-Star by the end of the high school season?

LSU needs 2 QBs if not 3 in this class. Putting all their eggs in one basket isn't a good play by LSU. Any recruit with a decent head on their shoulders knows this is the case for LSU and will either accept it or not that they won't be the only QB in this class.

Coach is being understandably close to the vest with a lot of the juicy details. And he should definitely keep doing so.

But from what I've pieced together from hints, he may already be a high 3 or low 4 star. And if you watch his film, it looks like he could become a 5* if he has a similar quantum leap from junior to senior season, as he did from sophomore to junior.

Really!?!? They offered Paul Freaking Tyson.

Right, a guy they have no chance to get.

You are ahead of your skis here. It's a year until next signing day.

technically early signing period for 2019 class is about 10 months away from now.

I think we will be seeing a lot more summertime solid commitments with this ESP in late Dec.

Yep. I was surprised by the overall numbers (not just LSU) of how many recruits signed in the first year of the new early period.

It's clear that Staff was too, to a lesser degree and that some level of adjustment is needed to strategy. Part of that strategy adjustment necessarily has to include offers and acceptance early on.

Just note, there's likely two contradictory/competing adjustments here:

- early signing period has "shifted" the calendar and normal procedure up by months.

- at the same time, one could argue, that we need to be more selective with those signings.

One of those leads to more early offers; the other leads to less.

that's a matter of opinion, but isn't all of it? I both think that will come to fruition where Quad ends up a 4*, worth the offer since we know we're taking 2 QBs for the most part. If that's the case, he has high interest in LSU, could be part of the early signing period, and the numbers support it (which they do)- it's an overall low risk move where waiting is higher risk.

From the hints that have been dropped, I have to believe in the next week or two Quad will finally have a ranking on one of the "major" recruiting services with rivals and I think the expectation is for him to be like goon says and he will either be a high 3 star or a low 4 star.

I can't imagine the frustration for kids with obvious talent waiting and waiting for any kind of recognition from the national services. I really hope Quad kills the Elite 11 regional and finally starts to get some sight and respect from the national circuit. I've been around a few of the Dutchtown recruits going through the process before and you have no idea the information and misinformation these kids are given. And remember these kids are 17, 18 years old trying to make huge life decisions. It's a confusions, anxious, and exciting time.

Shea Dixon did a piece this morning, and it may be just an opinion piece not sure, but he believes if LSU hands out more offers to QB's it would be in state prospects Lance Legendre and Chandler Fields.

My preference would be to hold the 2 scholarships that were not used this year for back counters next year - that will make it easier to take 2 qb then I would take Quad early and then let the chips fall wherever they fall.

Would love to have Quad and Gunnell both.

On his Rivals profile it says his interest in LSU is low. How do they come up with their interest levels?
