There is literally no reason for a Louisiana kid that LSU wants to go anywhere else. There is nothing any other school can offer that they can't get at LSU.

Sometimes you come off as an expert on this board. But this is very naive.

What pisses people off are the kids, usually highly rated, that string LSU along only to bail at the last minute and typically do something to show they never had the intention of staying home. LSU almost has an obligation to fight for those kids until the end, and it has been used against us.
I would like to point out, mainly to the people reading this thread who do not follow recruiting closely- not necessarily you, Van Pran did NOT string LSU along and has handled his recruitment with a lot of class.

In fact, that's probably one reason us (or UF) only have a puncher's chance of flipping SVP... he's taking his commitment seriously and as a true commitment and would have to have a very valid reason (reason, not excuse) to back out of it.

One such reason would be SVP doesn't really get along with Matt Luke. This is very unlikely; but that's just an example of one of the few reasons he wouldn't honor his commitment.

You never know, he could get mad or whatever. But such 'whims' haven't been a part of his recruitment whatsoever up to now.

I'm not being naïve. I know what else is out there. And what else is out there is either worse than LSU off the field or on the field. And nowhere is decidedly better in both categories.

All Tiger coaches and fans would love to have SVP represent LSU. He is aware of this and should he choose LSU all would welcome him.

The ball is in his court. Choose wisely

As a general recruiting premise—The longer guys flirt with multiple OOS schools and waffle the better it is for the home team. We have seen this time and time again. A kid gets it in his head that he’s “ not like all these other kids” , he’s an adventurous guy who goes to (insert exotic faraway school name here). And then he sees that it’s not everything he thought it was- it’s still just classes and football- and the home school starts to look more attractive. Just as a general statement.

In the past, there's been some doubt about the effectiveness of LSU's O-line coach (and hopefully this was one of the factors in SVP's decision to go to GA). I think Cregg has now proven he's one of the top O-line coaches in the nation. Hopefully SVP is cognizant of this fact and will reconsider his reasoning for not wanting to attend LSU.

No doubt, and I don’t think anyone will be mad at him for going elsewhere because of that

Indeed, other than LSU, Louisiana has little to offer. I am a native son but I'm glad I left many years ago. I had the opportunity to come back about 15 years ago but I'm glad I passed.

Louisiana offers even less opportunity for people of color so why not leave?

Why are we having a conversation about Tiger Bait on LSU recruiting board?

Maybe they are...

Shea never says much about this recruit...Evans or burch either...so I assume "it's not happening"

He’s a really good coach, but he’s hardly a top recruiting closer. Even after our flips on ESD, 247 still called them the biggest loser of the day.

SVP reminds me of Jerry Tillery. Jerry was also adamant on leaving the state for attending college. Add Jeff Grimes to the picture and it's not hard to see why he went to Notre Dame. However, if SVP is identified as a must have-type recruit by our staff, LSU's gotta do whateva it takes to get him onboard. If I remember correctly, one poster mentioned that, (in addition to $$$), JBE offered to grant pardon to someone close to Sopsher's family which LSU thought was plenty to keep Sopsher in state. We have got to do some type of shite of that order.

Tillery was a very unique kid. It wasn’t that he wanted to leave the state, it was that he had wanted to go to Notre Dame his entire life. And if football wouldn’t have gotten him there, his mind definitely would have. Kid's intelligence is off the charts, both of his parents are doctors. He would have ended up at ND regardless.

Great kid! I am not sure if he would have been in the league had he stayed with us. Grimes was horrendous at talent development.

What the hell are you talking about man.

Grimes coached offensive line. Tilley was selected in the first round of the draft as a defensive tackle.
