Freshman QB Cayden Jones

Not sure how it slipped by … being from Watson and a Live Oak grad. But Cayden Jones is listed on the roster as a QB. Kid was absolutely incredible last year at Live Oak breaking every single school record possible, and some state records if I remember correctly. Also played some stiff competition and never had a bad game.
Does anyone have any info on him? Preferred walk on? If you watch his film it’s surprising he didn’t have any more bigger offers.

I really don’t know how the maximum number of players works. The roster limit is 105 but perhaps we can go over like baseball. I believe we are at 110 or so.

Watching his highlight reel. Good athlete and has some ability. If he was 6’3” instead of 5’11” he would have been a lot more coveted. I wish him the best.

For a QB to get D1 offers at 5'11" and 170 lbs, they need to be pretty special, like Tua, Young, Tyler, Chambliss and upcoming Houston. There's no shortage of good, 6+ foot QBs with decent or strong arms.
That said, if CLK sees something, he's probably better than the recruiting services rated him.

He’s shifty! Never seen a QB try to initiate so much contact on scrambles. The way he runs reminds me of Spencer Ware and Chris Ivory, but in QB form.

He is listed at 5'10" so he is shorter than that.

Unfortunately, genetics make up about 90% of your chance going to the next level.
I’ve saw it first hand in basketball….. got guys signing who aren’t near as good as players as others, but the 5’10” white PG stands no chance lol
