The court issued the continuance (not even an actual signed order) itself sua sponte, i.e., on its own motion. There was no motion to continue that was filed, but there was likely a status conference with the judge where LSU Defendants' attorney (who just enrolled today) likely explained that most of the LSU Defendants still haven't even been served with the underlying lawsuit yet, so there's no basis yet to compel their appearance before that court, including for any hearing.

That's undoubtedly part of it.
Most of the defendants still haven't been served with underlying lawsuit yet, so there's no basis to compel their appearance before that court. The LSU Defendants' attorney (who by all accounts is a very good attorney) also just made his initial appearance and enrollment today, so he probably also requested some additional time to get caught up to speed. Curiously, though, there was no official motion to continue filed, which does lend to theory that there are many discussions going on behind the scenes between the parties and the court.

I find it amusing how you can really gauge the collective intelligence of the people on this board by the number of downvotes versus upvotes in response to posts like this one. It’s actually fairly sad.
