For those who think paying college athletes is just fine.

Bring me back to the good ole days of college football where you paid them cash under the table and lured them in with staffed escorts instead of flashy cars

I guess some folks liked it better when these players DIDN’T have to pay taxes on the money and gifts they got like they do now.

Back when there was LOYALTY to the schools building their parents’ homes and giving relatives high paying “jobs”

There are grifters in every business. Have you ever taken a deep dive into Red Cross, Fema or the Clinton Foundation? All charitable, human rights, crisis resource organizations. All shells for grifters to get rich. From the organizations themselves all the way down to the frauds at the end receiving and distributing the resources. Doesn't mean the whole system should be obliterated. Maybe, just maybe, all the regulatory laws for such things should be applied and not just spoken or read in a sound bite to show strength. These kids deserve to be paid for the money they generate. If only those with the money just followed the rules, or the spirit of them at least. Sure it's the kids fault.
NIL in major college football is its on unique example of the same exact cycle of wealth distribution. The top funnels money down stream to the bottom who then proceed to return it to them with interest. Even the long list of disgruntled left in wake repeat the cycle.
We are bothered by Texas' rich flaunts because we aren't Texas in that regard. They can, we cant. In regard to wr development and NFL success of WRs, in terms of flaunting, we can,, they cant. They are just as bitter about that. Following the downstream cycle, a program such as Missouri, for instance, looks at us the way we look at Texas. We moneywhipped their DC and DL coach very openly and shouted our fair share of taunts at them. We can, they can't. In terms of recent DL development and NFL draft success, they can, we can't. That's why we stole their coaches. Perspective remains undefeated.

This won’t work. The way we’re doing it will benefit us in the future. Just watch.

I mean when you are the hotshot that all the tech companies or financial corps want, they also pull out all the stops. While i think it's insane to do this to young people as it warps their viewpoints, what are you going to do about it in a "capitalism is king", country? You can't keep screaming that, while also seeing multi billion dollar TV deals and 100 mill coaching contracts. In reality these kids are getting a drop in the bucket.

This was inevitable.

lol!!! Have to laugh at it this point. This was inevitable. College sports is officially over. Pay to play is all that matters.

I'll ask it again. How many tens of thousands of dollars is a full ride scholarship to a major university worth? Don't tell me these kids are not being paid. You either accept the cash or the scholarship. Not both.

Why wouldn't you accept both. You take what they are giving.

The highest paid team and the championship team are usually not the same team. And it hasn’t happened yet in college football. However, the NCAA is allowing this mess to reclaim their relevance to college football.

I'm not bothered. That scene has a "Night at the Roxbury" feel to it.

It’s not the paying players that is the problem, it’s that there are no controls. No contracts, no salary caps. Rich schools/boosters just dole out unlimited money. Players can just transfer to highest bidder as often as they want. No controls on schools paying ungodly amounts of money. No controls on players jumping from one team to another. This is all exponentially worse than the NFL.

Hasn’t happened yet but it’s coming. You already saw Texas making a move last year.
College sports have become a pathetic situation. Way worse than pro sports. Salary caps prevent stuff like Texas is doing. Contracts provide some stability for teams. Never thought I’d see this.

A. Money is never unlimited - unless it comes from the government.

B. These are a bunch of rich idiots throwing money at an asset that will give zero return. It ain't gonna last.

Problem is, NIL. The NCAA cannot put a cap on NIL earnings. If they tried attorneys would lining up left and right to sue the NCAA. Even if the schools had a Pay-for-play cap, there is nothing to stop Dallas oil man from dropping a mil or two for a 5 star QB.

Transfer portal is the real problem.

So what if Caitlin Clark does State Farm commercials or Get Gordon features Tigers on a billboard?

The transfers are what needs to be reined in.
