No way he scored an 11. Unless he's literally mentally retarded.

Evans scored and 11 or 12 on the ACT?(I've seen both numbers on this board)

is there a big difference here?

If we have a spot open, I’d take a flyer on Evans. Worst case, you have a kid that can’t get it together, and you cut him loose. Best case, you have the best running back in the class and a guy who is a dynamic playmaker.

So you know the kid test score? Stop assuming he made 11!

I just don’t see this guy working out for an Ed Orgeron coached LSU Team. Maybe under a Miles one. Non-team guys usually don’t make it long with him-most recently Kelvin Joseph. Seems Orgeron makes them get in line or pushes them out. I like that philosophy too. Important to balance culture and talent. Look what happens when a coach lets bad attitudes and non team guys exist in his locker room. See Florida State under Jimbo. Let’s see what happens at A&M as Jimbo coddles the egos of more guys like this.

Some of the best adults were rough around the edges as teens. I get sick of this “ character issues “ crap as if it’s a capital offense- like a kid being a selfish , clueless bonehead is a dangerous felon. If a 17 year old just doesn’t get it, that’s not some kind of disqualification. I pull for these kids. If his only victim is himself, you work with the kid and show him the ropes of transitioning into adulthood . Even if he goes to be an Aggie or a Dawg, we should want these kids to become good teammates and people over time.

Until you look at a team like Clemson who built their team up with high character players. Minor issues sure can be fixed but this kid has almost all the red flags. I trust the coaching staff to weigh the pros and cons

I agree. But it’s the coaches who make that call, not those of us who don’t have all the information.

But would you want him in your locker room? I think we all want these troubled kids to eventually grow up and be productive. It’s not a question of that.

And sometimes those second chances give you happy endings. Kraft is a believer in those too.

I wouldn’t take a chance on the kid that has character issues along with possible grade issues to turn away another kid that has neither.

As Bill Parcels says "great players get a different set of rules". Case in point, Lawrence Taylor.

Character issues would include talking shite about a 17 year old when you don’t have all the information. Do you have all the information about Evans ? You sure ?

That’s all I’m saying.

He’s got Jambo written all over him. Let him stay in that area and continue his ways and wreak havoc for his 7 win seasons.

Tyler Shelvin had grade issues out of high school

and his grade issues came from attendance.. thats what he had to make up... if you dont show up you cant get credit regardless if you pass the class or not...

evans has the i dont give a frick attitude i know one of his teachers, she is an LSU alumni and loves football, even she doesnt want him there... kid is a problem and it aint a small one... he will go to a juco and orgeron can revisit in a year if he gets his shite together... i can only see TAMU taking a huge risk by leaving a scholly open for him IF he passes his ACT... and yes, the kid made at 11... the kid reads on a 3rd grade level..
