Fixing transfer rules

The unlimited transfer rule with NIL has broken the foundation of college football. We have to announce who is not transferring and celebrate that as if we signed a top recruit.
They have to adopt a 1 time transfer rule without sitting out a year. I’m not saying that they have to lose a year of eligibility when they sit out, but the NCAA has to do something about this. This is the wild Wild West out here. There is no loyalty, no team building. It’s team buying.
Most of LSU’s starters for the 2026 season have never met each other yet.

I say transfer option if head coach leaves but otherwise 1 year penalty for underclass men.

Its because courts have ruled limiting the individual
Ncaa can't out litigate 1k kids a year

Hate to break it to you, team buying has existed since this game was invented.

Yeah but you only had to buy it once, and we had the ability to watch kids develop as we supported them in our program.

You need 1 of 2 things to happen.
1- the courts to step in and put some guard rails in place.
This is unlikely, given the court system getting involved is what got us here. Courts being involved in sports is almost always a bad thing anyway.
2- the players to unionize and get together with a power (NCAA or conference commissioners) and collectively bargain.
It will eventually have to get to this, but there is zero reason for the players to do this right now since they hold nearly every bit of the power. Once an agreement would be in place they can negotiate their own rules, and the courts would no longer be involved.

Team buying may have existed to an extent. But not like this. It’s now an individual sport!

Limited antitrust exemption is the only way. NCAA has zero teeth as it stands. Lawyers and agents are bloody-mouthed feasting.
quote:
The SCORE Act (Proposed Legislation):
Key Provisions: Would grant antitrust immunity, preempt state laws, and prohibit student-athletes from being employees.
Opposition: Critics, including some US Senators and Attorneys General, argue it would give the NCAA too much power, suppress athlete earnings, and stifle competition, notes CT Insider.
The Debate: The NCAA argues an exemption is essential for managing college sports, but opponents, including professional sports player associations, fear it enables harmful collusion against athletes, says The American Antitrust Institute and NFLPA. Congress is pressured to act to either protect athletes or provide the NCAA with a stable framework, but consensus is elusive, according to NCSL.

but the NCAA has to do something about this.

Guys in the Portal shouldn't be able to sign and back out a week later

Question for ya'll: Do all players on our roster get an extra 30 days to enter the portal because of Kelly's firing? like Feb. 16th?

They need to make them employees of the AD. Then contracts can be handled like coaching contracts with buyout penalties. 1,2,3, or 4 year deals.
Players can freely move if X school pays the buyout.
