The one that plays wr is a good football player that I would consider a lower tier d1 prospect. By all accounts, they are great kids.

In Mississippi it was Moss Point
In Alabama it was Vigor(Prichard) and Robert E Lee from Montgomery

Can some body please tell me what happened to these two Louisiana football powerhouses.
They happened to come along and be rivals at a time when football was underdeveloped at a lot of other big schools in the state…
Especially West Monroe whose bread and butter was the I formation with questionable QBs which has proved unable to keep up with Zachary’s passing game
Then you have Evangel which was neutralized by their internal strife and now the economics of their area… and now everyone does 7 on 7, the Bossier Parish teams have gotten better…
Now with that being said, both of them still have really good fundamentals and desire to win as a program. Especially Evangel whom we all thought the school was done for when they went 0-fer, but they’ve rebounded nicely since then, and we all know West Monroe is one good hire away from getting back on top

Mamas and concussion movies by Will Smith. West Monroe has 2 kids with Team USA in baseball in some capacity and several others committed to D1 schools. You have kids that won’t start for the baseball team, yet would start for football quitting to get better at baseball…seriously…Now WM is ranked #2 in the nation in Max Preps preseason poll, but still. The clamor for some to get 1/4 scholarship at a JUCO to say they played at the next level is crazy to me. The amount of money spent on travel baseball and private lessons has the parents chasing ROI imo. I say this as a guy that spends 25K a year on cheer and dance, so I get it to a point.
Also, it takes luck to win it all and the ball just always bounced the other way for Coach Arledge unfortunately. First Dome appearance he loses his Tennessee and Bama backs on helmet to helmet spears by the same kid. Once they were out, the offense sputtered, which allowed LW to wear down the defense and blow them out. The second Dome appearance was a battle that the other team ultimately made more plays. Yes, they tackled the DB to allow the winning touchdown. We all saw it. The flag wasn’t thrown. I get it as the Dome was going crazy after the play. Tough to make the call. You had a semifinal loss at Destrehan with video evidence showing an absolutely garbage spot by the ref when the back got the first down by 2 yards. They marked him where he landed when thrown backwards. That game could have easily gone the other way. Another quarterfinal loss at Destrehan on a field goal the last play of the game. A semifinal loss to Zachary with the tying 2 point conversion tipped away by a finger. A quarter final loss to Zachary in OT with what felt like 200+ yards in penalties.
All that to say, the legend of Arledge could’ve been very different with some plays/calls going his way. Hopefully those bounces start going our way, then you’ll see the baseball kids come back out to football. Everyone loves a winner…

I think you are correct. I see kids in Ruston that 20-25 years ago would have been playing football based on their size. These days, they play baseball, tennis, track. Kids are being steered away from football.

Acadiana runs a veer offense and they’ve done alright.

Are you talking about Wojciech Myrda? If so, he played at Ouachita. He passed away in his sleep a couple years ago as well.
Before he decided to go to Ouachita, he came and scrimmaged with my high school team to see if he would be a good fit with us. I played pg some, it was nice having a 7’2” dude to throw it to.

Heard wasn’t Neville’s to take. He’s a bastrop kid. Well actually Bonita. Neville poached him from Bastrop after his sophomore year…

Idk about that. Uhigh produces a lot but the schools that seem to produce the most are: Edna Karr, Destrehan, Warren Easton and John Curtis.

noise. It seems like Zachary high is the new West Monroe and U High is the new Evangel imo.

I don’t think it’s that they are chasing roi, it’s that parents aren’t forcing kids to play football anymore. When I was in hs in late 90s/2000 it wasn’t really accepted to be baseball only. Football only was fine, but not baseball. Baseball was not a full time sport either, spring only.
Times change. WM baseball has become what football was as far as prestige goes. People want to be apart of it. Same thing has happened at barbe to some extent.

This is the most WM thing I have ever read. Only time they lose is when it’s stolen from them. Always have video evidence and act like that 1 bad can…only bad can of the night and ref must be out to get them

Yeah that reads a little salty.

Calvary and the shite hole that is Shreveport pushed a lot of kids to a much safer and growing Bossier city school system.
ETA: Sorry, I referenced Calvary when I meant Evangel.

Not in Shreveport/Bossier. People are either migrating south to North Desoto or north to Parkway, Airline, or Benton. Shreveport is quickly falling apart due to poor leadership and crime.

I"m a WM graduate from the pre-Shows era when they were just a sleeping underachieving giant. You aren't wrong on your assessment of that post, although the one bad no call was probably more egregious than the no call in the Saints-Rams game.
I don't worship at the alter of WM football but my oldest will be playing there next year. I just think standards slipped under the last coach and play calling got very stale and predictable. Hoping the new coach turns things around.

Best football game ever. Too bad it was only 2 quarters and preseason. 14-14 tie. It was not played like a preseason game.
