Elko just got an extension this summer through 2029. Whatever his buyout is, and obviously we don’t know, it’s at its highest right now.

Yes good chance. I thought Jimbo would be looking for a job this morning.

This is year 6 and, at best, they will finish 9-3 this season

Don’t much care where Mc Kinley goes.
Chris Davenport was highly sought after, as well.

What does he want to study?
Do you follow US News Academic Ratings?
LINK
Texas A&M is rated 47th Nationally. LSU is 185th.
If he is truly a good student and A&M has a stellar program in the academic subject matter he is aiming to study and he weighs the odds of making it to the NFL (and having a lengthy NFL career), his parents may not be steering him in the wrong direction seeing that the A&M out of state tuition is nearly four times the cost of a Louisiana student attending LSU in-state.
He might also be able to look past the stupid A&M campus traditions.

am more worried that they go after Lanning from Oregon. I think he is the next great coach.
Him or Elko would be great hires.
Lanning would be better imo since he is the much better recruiter.
I wonder if he would leave Oregon for a&m. Seems like an odd fit. I could see him staying at Oregon for 2 more years then trying to get a bigger job.

Why would he leave Oregon? Money? They got Nike money.

I've never understood how Oregon has so much trouble keeping coaches. They seem to identify real good young, up and coming coaches.
Their problem is that when these guys find success, they are called back to their Alma maters, Chip Kelly left for the NFL, so that was bad luck on their part, but Kelly's time in Oregon is what made the Eagles want to hire him in the first place.
I actually feel like Lanning may be the one to buck the trend and stay at Oregon for a long time.
If he does, I could see them remaining perennial contenders. Which would be great, I have grown weary of the OSU/Michigan game being the defacto Big 10 championship game.
ETA Sorry for going so far off topic.

Jimbo isn’t going out of pocket to pay McKinley at least 2x what everyone else offered, including Texas. So, McKinley will still take the money if A&M is paying it. None of these out of state kids are going to A&M for any reason other than they are paying at least double the going rate. They sure as hell aren’t going there to play for Jimbo.

They’re able to pay Nike money to a young coach and have the nicest facilities in the country but Oregon is a long arse way from anything. In state recruiting is poor, the PAC 12 has been poor as a whole and got little exposure until this year. Despite the financial backing, it’s not a destination job unless a former duck gets the job.

Faggies educational experience is vastly overrated they are medium level engineers that will say anything for a buck and work for all the insurance companies.
If he wants a real education then he should buck it go to Texas

Jimbo can't last more than a couple of weeks. A&M already passing the hat. Dude is on the rails. He has lost the locker room. He should be coaching in the AAC or MAC.

Sounds like he wants to get out of dodge no? If he decommits from A&M there are other out of state schools I’m sure he would give a look.

For many reasons, I hope Elko doesn’t end up at A&M.
He's good but don't know why you would be scared of him
I don't think he's elite
I'd rather they hire him than someone like Lanning or Deboer

I think he's going to hold out for the Bama job - if he keeps it up at Oregon I would think he's the front runner

Granted college is not like high school where the coaches and teachers mingle in the faculty lounge. But the issue with Oregon and all the west coast colleges is, imagine being surrounded by an entire faculty of Robert Mann’s. It gets tiring.

I kind of get a weird Sospher DT Amite feel from McKinley. I wish the best for Dom Mc.

Probably not this year. I'm sure that would be alot of money to say no to
